As an important boring-insect in ornamental trees and shrubs,Batocera horsfieldi is widely distributed in China and has many hosts. The damage to Fraxinus chinensis Roxb is particularly severe. In this paper, harm characteristics,Population dynamics, life history of B.horsfieldi in Taizhou,Jiangsu province, and control effects of releasing Fairmaire eggs and injecting the trees with Emamectin benzoate soluble concentrate on B.horsfieldi were studied. The main research results are as follows:1.The main species of Cerambycidae on Fraxinus chinensis Roxb, damage characteristics of B.horsfieldi, and the population dynamics were clarified. After investigating B.horsfieldi the three experimental forests,we found that:The main species of Fraxinus chinensis Roxb in Taizhou area is B.horsfieldi.The larval damage to the tree begins at the base, then extends to the trunk branches, then drills down to the xylem of the trunk, reaches to the heart of the pulp, darkens the interior of the cavity and forming 1-10 fecal holes.Adult oviposition grooves are lip-shaped,causing the bark to bulge outwards. The trapping results of six different test sites on B.horsfieldi showed that the adult began to feather in the middle of May.From late May to mid-June and late June, there was a fastigium of infestation for adults. After that, the number of adults decreased and continued until mid-September.The entrapment effect of adult A-1 attractant was better than that of Pherobio Technology Co.,Ltd's attractant. The life history study showed that the longicorn occurred in 2-3 years, overwintered by adults and larvae, pupated in mid-March,emerged in late April, ended in early July, and overwintered in September-October.2.The control effects of releasing Fairmaires eggs on B.horsfieldi was clarified. The control effects were evaluated by investigating the number of killed plants and insect population before and after releasing natural enemies in the field. The results showed that the control effects of releasing Fairmaires eggs were good.In the 6 test forests with the release of Fairmaires eggs, the average larvae corrected-mortality decreased to 52.27%and the average number of infested plant decreased to 56.33%.The control effects in the second year was obviously better than that in the first year.In the second year and the current year, the attenuation rates of corrected infected plants were 66.51%and 73.82%,respectively.The average larvae corrected-mortality were 49.36%and 71.77%,respectively.3.It is clear that that Emamectin benzoate soluble concentrate can be used for preventing and treating B.horsfieldi.The field experiments were carried out in Taizhou of Jiangsu Province in order to find out the field control effects of Emamectin benzoate soluble concentrate on B.horsfieldi.The results showed that 4%Emamectin benzoate soluble concentrate had a good effects on the prevention and treatment of B.horsfieldi.The differences between different doses(0.05,0.10,0.15g/cm chest diameter)were significant. The control effects were best at 0.10-0.15g/cm chest diameter dose, and the control effects at 7,14 and 30d after administration were 88.70-92.40%,80.72-86.00%and 76.20-86.29%,respectively.No effect on the natural enemies of pests and Fraxinus chinensis Roxb was found in the process of use.The recommended amount for prevention is 0.10-0.15g/cm diameter.
