The purpose of this study was to investigatethe distribution and influencing factors and supplement epidemiological data of cow mastitis in Shanxi Province and provides theoretical basis for further research and prevention of cow mastitis. This paper analyzed the effects of season, climate, parity, cow age, lactation time, daily milk yield, milk fat rate and milk protein rate on mastitis and somatic cell number in dairy cows.It studied 1974 Holstein cows which from 9 large-scale farms in Datong,Taiyuan and Yuncheng. It was based on clinical symptoms(clinical mastitis)or somatic cell count(recessive mastitis)for epidemiological investigation. The results showed that:(1)In 2017,the incidence of cow mastitis in Shanxi Province was 14.58%,of which the incidence of clinical and recessive mastitis was 2.92%and 11.66%,respectively.The incidence of cow mastitis in Datong,Taiyuan and Yuncheng was 17.41%,14.54%and 11.79%respectively(2)The incidence of clinical and recessive mastitis in Datong decreased in autumn, winter, spring and summer. The incidence of clinical and recessive mastitis in Taiyuan and Yuncheng decreased in summer, autumn, winter and spring. The incidence of clinical and recessive mastitis increased with the increase of parity, age and lactation time of dairy cows, but it decreased with the increase of daily milk production.(3)In Datong, the somatic cell count of dairy cows was the highest in autumn and lowest in summer. In Taiyuan and Yuncheng, the somatic cell count of dairy cows was the highest and lowest in spring.(4)There was a significant positive correlation between the somatic cell count and parity, age and lactation time of cows(P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between mastitis positive rate and milk fat rate(P<0.05).There was a positively correlated between mastitis positive rate and the milk protein rate, but not significantly(P>0.05).In summary,Season, climate, parity, age, lactation time, daily milk yield, milk fat rate and milk protein rate all have certain effects on the somatic cell count and mastitis in milk of cows.
