To analyze the effects of different feeding patterns on pregnant sows and their offspring, establish a welfare feeding patterns for pregnant sows and promote their application. This study investigated the behavior, health status, stress hormone levels of pregnant sows in group and stall housing system, and the inflammatory resilience of their offspring piglets. The test is divided into two parts:1.Comparsion of maternal behavior, partial stress hormones and glucose levels of pregnant sows in group and stall housing systemIn this study,60 healthy second parity Large White sows were randomly divided into two groups including stall with 30 sows and group-housing with 30 sows(electronic feeding station),The number of behaviors of the two groups of sows were recorded respectively in pre-pregnancy(40 d),mid-pregnancy(70 d)and late pregnancy(100 d).The test results of the independent sample T showed that the number of standing behaviors of sows in the stall housing was significantly higher than that in the group housing sows in the late pregnancy(P<0.05);the number of lying behaviors of sows in the stall housing was significantly lower than that in the group housing sows in the late pregnancy(P<0.05);The number of dog-sitting behaviors of sows in the stall housing was extremely significant higher than that in the group housing sows in the prepregnancy and midpregnancy(P<0.01).The number of sham chewing behaviors of sows in the stall housing was extremely significantly higher than that in group housing sows during the whole pregnancy(P<0.01).The number of investigation behaviors of sows in the stall housing was extremely significant lower than that in group housing sows during the whole pregnancy(P<0.01).It can be seen that the group housing pattern can significantly increase the occurrence of sow's investigation behaviors and reduce sham chewing behaviors.Blood samples were collected from the two groups of pregnant sows at 41 d,71 d and 101 d,respectively, and the serum was extracted to determine content of adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH),cortisol(COR),adrenaline(adrenaline,epinephrine,A/E),Prolactin(PRL)and blood glucose(Glu). The test results of the independent sample T showed that the content of ACTH andA in the stall housing sows was extremely significant higher than that in the group housing sows in the prepregnancy(P<0.01).In the midpregnancy, the content of A in the stall housing sows was extremely significant higher than that of the group housing sows(P<0.01),and the content of COR was significantly lower than that of the group housing sows(P<0.05).In the late pregnancy,There was no significant differences in the content of stress hormones and glucose. But,the content of ACTH,A,COR and PRL in the stall housing sows was higher than that of the group housing sows, and the content of Glu was lower than that of the group housing sows.It can be observed that the level of stress hormones in the stall housing sows is higher than that of the group housing sows,Glu consumption has also increased, indicating that the stall housing sows suffer greater stress.2.Comparison of inflammatory resilience of piglets in stall and group housing patternsIn this study,20 healthy weaning weight pigs were selected which came from two groups sows respectly. The lipopolysaccharide(LPS)was utilized to simulate the intestinal inflammation of piglets.Comparison of piglet Inflammatory resilience by measuring changes in ear temperature and levels of A,COR,Glu and TNF-?.The test results of the independent sample T showed that the ear temperature of Offspring weaned piglets of two housing patterns sows was significantly higher than that of the control group after injecting LPS.The COR in the serum was extremely significant higher than that of the control group, and the blood glucose was significantly lower than that of the control group, the inflammatory factor,TNF-1,also increased. It indicated that LPS caused an inflammatory reaction in piglets.During the recovery process, the ear temperature of offspring piglets in the group housing sows was significantly lower than that of offspring piglets in the stall housing sows, indicating that the inflammation of piglets in the group housing was restored more faster. In addition, the COR of piglets in the stall housing sows were significantly higher than that of piglets in the group housing sows,TNF-? was slightly higher than that of group housing offspring piglets, and glucose was significantly lower than that of group housing offspring piglets. The results of study indicated that the offspring in the group housing sows had better anti-stress ability. It can be seen that the offsprin piglets in the group housing sows have stronger disease resistance.
