The experiment was conducted to study the effects of Lactobacillus on production performance, egg quality, fecal emission of ammonia and sulfureted hydrogen of layers at the later laying period.360 layers which were 60-weeks-age were randomly divided into four groups with six replications and 15 layers per replications were fed the same basal diet with 0,50,100,150 mg/kg Lactobacillus. The total duration of the experiment was 60 days, the first 6 days of experiment was preliminary period and the formal experiment lasted for 54 days.Test results showed that dietary supplementation different levels of Lactobacillus could improve the production performance of layers at the later laying period.Compared with control group, average daily egg yield, average egg weight, laying rate and commodity qualified egg rate of trial group ? were increased by 17.23%,1.07%,15.07% and1.21%,extremely significant difference(P<0.01),feed egg ratio of trial group ? was decreased by 14.46%(P<0.01),but average daily feed intake was no significant difference(P>0.05);the egg shape index and yolk weight of trial group II were significant difference(P<0.05),the eggshell weight of trial group ? was extremely significantly increased by 14.56%,the yolk color score was deepened;the fecal moisture percentage of trial group ? was extremely significantly decreased by 3.39%(P<0.01),fecal emission of sulfureted hydrogen and ammonia decreased by38.76% and 20.17%(P<0.01).The digestibility(amount)of dry matter(DM),organic matter, crude protein, crude fat in diets with 50,100,150 mg/kg Lactobacillus have been significantly or extremely significantly improved at later laying period.Compared with control group, the apparent digestibility of metabolize energy(ME),calcium(Ca),phosphorus(P)of group I,II,III also have been improved at late laying stage. In the trial period, there was no significant change about the immune indexes among the groups;antioxidant aspects,54 d,compared with control group, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase enzyme of group I,II,III significantly or extremely significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01),the catalase of group III extremely significantly increased by 35.33%(P<0.01),the total antioxidant capacity of group II,III increased by 14.06%(P<0.05)and 21.22%(P<0.01),test groups were below the control group, the group III significantly decreased by 21.70%(P<0.05),the fecal moisture percentage of trial group ? was extremely significantly decreased by 3.39%(P<0.01),fecal emission of sulfureted hydrogen and ammonia decreased by38.76% and20.17%(P<0.01).The total number of bacteria in feces, compared with control group, the number of Lactobacillus of test groups were increased by 11.32%,14.74%and 18.16%,extremely significant difference(P < 0.01),group III were higher than group I,II 6.14%(P < 0.01)and 2.98%(P <0.05),the number of Escherichia coli of test groups were decreased by 9.23%(P<0.05),11.03%(P<0.05)and 12.56%(P<0.01),others were no significant difference(P>0.05).Above all, dietary supplementation with Lactobacillus could improve production performance, egg quality, reduce fecal emission of ammonia and sulfureted hydrogen, significantly improve the nutrient digestion and metabolism in diet, improve the feed conversion rate and the anti-oxidation performances of layers at late laying stage,be good for gastrointestinal health. It suggested that diet supplemented with 150 mg/kg Lactobacillus was best.
