Foliar application of the optimum concentration of calcium chloride can significantly increase crop yield. To explore whether the method of spraying calcium chloride on the foliage can increase the yield of millet and improve the quality of millet, this experiment mainly studies foliar application. The effect of calcium chloride on the photosynthesis, agronomic traits and yield formation of Jingu 21.Using Jingu 21 as test material, the following concentrations(0,0.05 mg/L,0.1 mg/L,0.15 mg/L,0.2mg/L)of calcium chloride were sprayed at jointing, heading and filling stages, respectively. The plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic parameters and the yield components at maturity were determined in the jointing stage, heading stage and filling stage of the millet. After spraying calcium chloride at a concentration of 0.05 mg/L to 0.2 mg/L at jointing stage, the plant height, stem diameter and leaf area of the millet increased first and then decreased. After spraying calcium chloride at a concentration of 0.05 mg/L to 0.2 mg/L at the heading stage, the grain diameter, leaf area and plant height of the millet increased first and then decreased. After the application of calcium chloride at a concentration of 0.05 mg/L to 0.2 mg/L during the filling period, the stem and plant height of the millet increased first and then decreased. The results showed that foliar application of calcium chloride in the range of 0.05 mg / L ~ 0.2 mg / L concentration, increased first and then decreased in different periods.Calcium chloride at a concentration of 0.1 mg/L is beneficial for photosynthesis and promotes photosynthetic product formation. The contents of chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b and carotenoids in the lower leaves of millet under different concentrations were increased after spraying 0.05 mg/L to 0.1 mg/L calcium chloride at different times,at the concentration of 0.1 mg/L~0.15 mg/L showed a decreasing trend, and the concentration reached the maximum at 0.1 mg/L after spraying. The differences between treatments were less significant than the control.Chlorophyll at different times after spraying reached a maximum at a concentration of 0.1 mg/L.At the maturity stage, the yield indexes such as ear length, ear weight and1000-grain weight of millet were determined. The yield index of millet increased compared with the control. After treatment with 0.05 mg/L and 0.1 mg/L,the ear thickness increased significantly compared with the control. The grain weight increased significantly compared with the control, and the number of codes in the yield index did not change significantly.
