Tobacco is one of the most economic crops,which plays an important role in enlarging national finance tax and farmer's income.Due to the growth promotion,stress resistance,the silicon was been pay more attention in recent years.However,little research focused on the effect of silicon in tobacco.Especially,it was lack of the research of silicon on tobacco growth in Shandong province.In the present study,we investigated the suitable usage and mechanism of silicon through pot experiment in laboratory.Then we further investigated the effect of silicon on tobacco growth in field of Laiwu.The results of experiment in laboratory.Referred to the literature,3 silicon usage which were 0.016 g/kg,0.024 g/kg,and 0.032 g/kg was selected.The suitable silicon usage was determined through investigating the survival rate,tobacco physiology index(length and width of leaf).The results demonstrated that the survival rate was not affected by silicon.However,silicon application significantly enhanced tobacco growth compared control.Furthermore,with the increase in the use of silicon fertilizer,the effect of silicon fertilizer is first increased and then stabilized,which were no difference between 0.024 g/kg and 0.032g/kg but all of which were better than 0.024 g/kg.Based on the pot experiment,0.024 g/kg was most suitable to the of Laiwu.Basing on previous results,we further investigated the influence of silicon on the soil nutrition and photosynthetic index.The results indicated that silicon increased the content of available phosphorus and silicon of soil.As to other elements,silicon had no affection.Silicon application significantly increased net photosynthetic rate,intercellular carbon dioxide concentration but decrease the stomatal conductance and transpiration rate.The results of field experiment.The experiments were conducted in three different field area of Laiwu.Compared to control,silicon application enhanced the yield of tobacco by 12%.And which changed the content of organic matter in tobacco leaves: Reduced and total sugar were decreased by silicon.But nicotine was increased by silicon.Then ration of sugar to nicotine was significantly decreased.These results indicated silicon application was benefit in enhancing the flavor of tobacco leaves which intensify the tobacco character of the area of Laiwu.In addition,the content of cellulose,pectin and lignin were largelyincreased.The mentioned three organics was proved the primary constituent of cell wall,which were benefited to enhance plant lodging,pest and disease resistance.In the present study,we selected the best usage of silicon for Shandong Laiwu soli character and proved that silicon could enhance yield and improve the quality of tobacco.The results of this research supplied a new insight to promote sustainable development of tobacco production in Shandong Laiwu.
