Wildlife information like images,sounds,activity path and survival environment which are collected in monitoring process will provide reasonable basis of the wildlife resources dynamic change for management personnel.In those monitoring data,the image data with the characteristics such as intuitive,efficient,rich in content get more and more attention of the researchers,and become an important part of wildlife monitoring.Nowadays the wildlife image acquisition methods are mainly divided into the artificial collect and smart camera collect,but both of them have their own defects,such as long acquisition cycle,high labor costs,etc.The wireless image sensor network technology for monitoring wildlife images has become an important way to solve these problems.Based on wireless image sensor network technology realization and application task in wildlife monitoring were study in this paper,and a wildlife monitoring system based on wireless image sensor network was designed.Main achievements completed and results in this paper are as follows:1)Wildlife monitoring system architecture was designed.To overcome existing defects of Wildlife image monitoring in our country forest area,combining with wireless sensor network,a wildlife monitoring system based on wireless image sensor network architecture was proposed.The designed system consists of monitoring nodes,coordinator node,gateway and the server.And there was Zigbee protocol between monitoring nodes and coordinator node,and 4G networks between gateway and server in the system.2)Wildlife monitoring system software and hardware platforms were implemented.According to the environmental characteristics of the wild forest area,each part’s software and hardware platforms of monitoring system were implemented,realized the function of the remote,wireless,and real-time monitoring for wildlife.3)An image transmission response mechanism was proposed.To meet the need of stability and integrity for image wireless transmission,an image transmission response mechanism was proposed in this paper.Problems like cross transmission,packet loss,transmission priority in the wireless image sensor network transmission process were solved,and enhance the stability and integrity for image wireless transmission.4)A testing was taken in the designed system.The system’s function like image acquisition,wireless communication,multi-hop transmission,and wireless upload were tested,and the result showed this monitoring system realized the function of the remote,wireless,and real-time monitoring for wildlife.And In the process of the monitoring system,there is no packet loss when image was transmitted between coordinator node and monitoring node.Furthermore,images were transmitted orderly between multiple nodes.In the clearing field of forest,between two nodes,in the effective communication distance of 350 meters,the image transmission success rate was over 90%.And in the dense forest field,between two nodes,in the effective communication distance of 200 meters,the image transmission success rate was over 90%.
