The European woodwasp,Sirex noctilio Fabricus(Hymenpotera:Siricidae),which is native to Eurasia Asian and North Africa has become a major international forestry invasive pest.Then it was introduced to many countries,causing significant economic losses to their pine resources.The woodwasp had invaded in northeast of China on Pinus sylvestnis var.mongolica Litv.in 2013.It is urgent to improve the monitoring technique of the invasive pest.Semiochemicals play a crucial role in mate location and host plant selection of this pest.Manipulating insect behaviour through the application of semiochemicals in the environment has become a practical method in pest management In the study,the pheromone components were identified and its release thythm was analyzed.Then,different lure and trap combinations were developed based on the plant volatile and pheromone components.Finally,ultrastructure of antennae and ovipositor was observed and important role they play in chemical communication was analyzed.The results were as follows:Three methods(Extraction by solvent,Dynamic headspace collection,Solid-phase microextraction)were used to collect the volatile of 2-day-old S.noctilio(males and females).The extraction was analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer(GC-MS).(2)-3-decenol in the volatile of male S.noctilio was abundant.Circadian thythm of pheromone release in a day from 2-day-old males was studied.Amount of pheromone increased firstly and then decreased during a day.The peak was from 11:00 to 12:00.Daily thythm of pheromone release from different day showed amount of phernmone from 2-day-old males was significantly higher than that from other day-old woodwasps.The pheromone release and mating thythm of S.noctilio were consistent.No special component was identified from Females volatiles.Ten lures(3 host lures,2 commercial lure,4 mixture lures and 1 control)were combined with 6 traps in the P.sylvestris var.mongolica plantation of Xindian Forest Farm,Durbert Mongolian Autonomous County,Heilongjiang Province to compare trapping effect between different combinations.The results showed that all S.noctilio captured were female.More wasps were captured by the sticky belt trap than other types of trap.Lure based on volatile component of girdled P.sylvestris can captured more wasps,followed by a kind of commercial lure.The morphological structures,amount,and distribution of sensilla on antennae and ovipositor of wood wasp were observed by scanning electron microscopy.There were 11 different types of sensilla on the antennae and ovipositor of There were 7 kinds of sensilla on male and female antennae,including sensilla trichodca,sensilla chaetica,B6hm bristles,cuticular pore,sensilla basiconc,sensilla ampullacea.contact chemoreeeptors.There were 2 kinds of sensilla trichodca and 2 kinds of sensilla chaetica.There were 8 kinds of sensillum on ovipositor,including sensilla trichodca,sensilla chaetica,slight depressio,B6hm bristles,cuticular pore,sensilla cavity,sensilla coeloconica on the S.noctilio oviposition sheath,and dentate sensilla inside the valvulae.Among them,five hypotypes was found as to sensilla chaetica.Sensilla trichodca had a different hypotype compared with sensilla trichodca on the antenna.It is speculated that sensilla basiconc,uniporous sensory pegs on the antennae,and sensilla coeloconica on the ovipositor can recognize the chemicals.
