Phylloporia is a genus in the Hymenochaetaceae,Basidiomycota, and species in the genus mainly grow on branches and stems of living plants or lianas with high levels of host specificity, some species are mainly nourished by sap and thus parasitic with trees,a few species are found on dead wood and several species occur on the ground connected to dead underground wood.Species in the genus have a wide distribution, not only in the tropics, but also in the temperate zone.So far 47 species are reported worldwide,of these 32 species are distributed in China. The taxonomic study of the genus Phylloporia was carried out on the basis of traditional morphological classification and phylogenetic analyses by sequences of ITS,nLSU,mt-SSU,RPB2 and EF1-?.The study showed Phylloporia contained species with sessile or stipitate basidiomata,a monomitic or dimitic hyphal system,a homogeneous or duplex context a terrestrial or wood-inhabiting habit, but all species of the genus produce tiny, colored and thick-walled basidiospores, and with such characteristics can be distinguished from other genera in the Hymenochaetaceae.Microscopically, species in Phylloporia have rather similar hyphal structure, and basidiospores, cystidioles and pores are the important characteristics for distinguishing species.Phylloporia is shown to be monophyletic according to the molecular sequence data, however, species were not correlated to different morphological types such as sessile, stipitate, pathogenetic and terrestrial species. In addition,it is relatively easier to obtain nLSU sequences for species in the genus, and such sequences have been used for phylogenetic analysis to distinguish species.Six new species,Phylloporia cystidiolophora G.J.Ren&Y.C.Dai,P.lespedezae G.J.Ren&F.Wu,P.perangusta G.J.Ren&Y.C.Dai,P.rattanicola G.J.Ren&Y.C.Dai,P.splendida G J.Ren&Y.C.Dai and P.subpulla G.J.Ren&Y.C.Dai are found in this study.Detailed description and microscopic structure drawings of 32 species from China are provided, and relationships with similar species are discussed. In addition,an identification key for 32 species is proposed.
