The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of whole-plant corn silage type ration on the production performance, blood biochemical indicators, meat quality, and economic benefits in fattening sheep.Twenty-four crossbred(Small-tailed HanX Dorper)male lambs with 3-month-old(32±1.69 kg)were randomly divided into two groups:12 crossbred sheep in each group.Control group fed commercial granule feed(CK group),while the experimental group were based on whole-plant com silage type ration(WS group). The feeding trial lasted for 70 days:the first 10 days were pre-feeding period, and the next 60 days were normal feeding period. At the end of the normal feeding period, three sheep were randomly selected for slaughter in each group.Slaughtering performance, blood biochemical indicators, and meat quality of were determined.(1)There was no significant difference in the average daily gain(ADG)between the commercial CK group and the WS group(P>0.05).The average daily feed intake(ADFI)of the WS group was significantly higher than that of the CK group(P<0.05).The ADFI and feed:meat ration of the CK group was significantly higher than that of the WS group(P<0.05).(2)In terms of economic benefits, the daily consumption of CK group was 2.01 kg/sheep/d,and the daily consumption of WS group was 2.49 kg/sheep/day.Thus,the daily feed cost CK group was 4.62 kg/sheep/d,and the daily feed composition of WS group 3.73 yuan/sheep/day.The economic benefits of daily gain CK group was 5.95 yuan/sheep/day,while the benefits of WS group was 6.43 yuan/sheep/day.As a result, daily profit CK group was 1.33 yuan/sheep/day,while the WS group was 2.61 yuan/sheep/day.Compared with the CK,the profit of corn silage increased by 1.28 yuan/sheep/day.(3)In terms of slaughtering performance and meat quality, there was no significant difference in slaughter performance between two groups(P>0.05).The GR value of the CK group was significantly lower than that of the WS group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in shear force between the CK group and the WS group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in eye muscle area between the CK group and the WS group(P>0.05).(4)The blood of fattening sheep was collected at the early, middle and late stages of the experiment. The levels of glutathione, superoxide dismutase,malondialdehyde,glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, glutathione transaminase, creatinine, total protein, albumin, urea nitrogen, glucose, total cholesterol and oxidative emergency index were measured at the early stage of the experiment. There was no significant difference between the WS group and the CK group(P>0.05),but the total antioxidant capacity of blood in the WS group was significantly lower than that in the CK group(P<0.05).The levels of glutathione, glutathione transaminase, glutathione transaminase, creatinine, total protein, albumin, urea nitrogen, glucose, total cholesterol and commodity grains were also measured in the middle of the experiment. The content of superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity in serum were significantly lower in the WS group than in the CK group(P<0.05).Malondialdehyde and oxidative stress index in the WS group were significantly higher than those in the CK group(P<0.05).At the later stage of the experiment, the blood glutathione, glutathione transaminase, creatinine and total protein in the WS group were significantly higher than those in the CK.There was no significant difference in the contents of albumin, urea nitrogen, glucose and total cholesterol between the two groups(P>0.05);the content of superoxide dismutase in serum of the WS group was significantly higher than that of the CK group(P>0.05);and the content of glutamic oxalate transaminase in the WS group was significantly lower than that of the CK group(P<0.05).The oxidative emergency index of the WS group was significantly lower than that of the CK group(P<0.05).In conclusion, during the fattening stage, lambs fed with whole-plant com silage type ration did not affect the feed intake, blood biochemical parameters, slaughter performance and meat quality of lambs. But after 40 days of feeding,it can increase the content of superoxide dismutase in blood, reduce oxidative stress, and improve feed reward and economic benefits.
