At present,The human needs for ecological and social benefits continue to increase.Ecological public welfare forest health is the basis for maintaining long-term ecological benefits.Basis on the assessment of public welfare forests health status, scientific and targeted management is extremely important for improving the health condition.Based on the investigation and understanding of the ecological public welfare forests in Mu Us Sandland in Ordos. The entry point for this article which how to rationally construct the structure and improve the health condition of public welfare forests, make the existing forests sustainable development. The public welfare forest health assessment system include two aspects, the plant diversity of biological factors and the soil site quality of non-biological factors.Use system to conduct public welfare forests health assessment on five kinds of forests. The results showed that:(1)Each indicator in the public welfare forest health assessment index system obtains the weight value through the Delphi method and the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The study confirmed that the weight value of plant diversity index and soil quality index are the same in the criterion layer.Among the 12 indicators in the index layer, the smallest weight value is the ammonium nitrogen, and prove this index little affects the forest health degree. The strong indicators affecting the healthy development and management of public welfare forests are the Simpson Index(D),the Shannon-Wiener Index(H),and the Pielou Index(E)in the region.(2)Through investigation and research,it was found that Artemisia ordosica was the dominant species in the shrub and herb plot, but it did not cause encroachment trend of the main tree species.Through analysis, the individual scores of each type of forest type index were obtained. The Simpson index(D)score was around 0.611.The Shannon-Wiener index(H)score was around 1.223.The Pielou index(E)score was around 0.751.The plant diversity of Caragana korshinskii shrubbery was significantly lower than other four kinds of forests. The vegetation richness and Shannon-Wiener index of Salix psammophila shrubbery.Hedysarum mongolicum shrubbery Simpson index and Pielou index are higher than other kinds of forests.(3)Through the analysis, the individual scores of each index in the soil quality criterion layer were obtained. The total potassium index contributed the most to the soil in the Salix psammophila shrubbery and Caragana korshinskii shrubbery. The available phosphorus had the highest contribution rate to the soil in Hedysarum mongolicum shrubbery. The organic matter index was Caragana tibetica shrubbery has the highest contribution rate to soil. The bulk density index has the highest contribution rate to soil in Sabina vulgaris shrubbery. The study found that the soil bulk density is high of the Mu Us sandy land in Ordos. The soil in this area is alkaline, and the nutrient content is low.Total nitrogen is the main limiting factor affecting soil quality improvement.(4)This paper studies the health degree of public welfare forests in Mu Us Sand land in Ordos. The results show that the proportion of five kinds of forests in sub-health status is higher than that in health status. The comprehensive score index is used to find that the health of Salix psammophila shrubbery is healthy, the score is higher than the other four kinds of forests. The health of the Caragana korshinskii shrubbery is low, which needs to be greatly improved.
