With the increasing demand of economic forest production,sustainable management has attracted much attention.Bamboo plants is an important economic in southern China,but the traditional cutting models restrict the development of the bamboo industry.Under the background of decreasing rural labor,it is particularly urgent to study a reasonable and efficient bamboo cutting model."Rotative Belt Cutting?RBC?",a new model proposed recently,is a highly efficient and sustainable bamboo forest cutting model,but it is not verified in practice as yet.This study intends to verify this model and evaluate its economic benefit,and then provide a new way to solve the restriction of bamboo industry caused by cutting model.In this study,Phyllostachys glauca was selected as the research object,and an experimental plot was set up in Ruichang City,Jiangxi Province.The optimum cutting time,cutting width,photosynthetic capacity and economic benefits of RBC of Ph.glauca were studied.The quality of post-cut bamboo forests was compared in January,February,August and December to determine the most suitable time for bamboo cutting.According to the results of previous studies on characteristics of Ph.glauca clonal integration,we set up 5m and 10 m and 20 m in three different bandwidths of RBC model,with the traditional selective and clear cutting model as control.After comparing the different cutting models‘characters,including bamboo growth,photosynthesis and economic indexes the most suitable RBC model was screened.The main results are as follows:?1?December is the most suitable cutting time,and the quality of new bamboo is the best.The new bamboo forest‘s DBH and plant height decreased by 20.39±3.50%and17.55±2.63%respectively after cutting.The decrement of new bamboo‘s DBH in December was just 40.72%,46.97%,41.49%that in January,February and August respectively,and for the decrement of plant height,the decrement proportion were60.80%,55.25%,60.16%,respectively.?2?Bamboo forests quality of RBC model was better than of selective cutting and clear cutting.The quality of new bamboo was the best in RBC model with 5 m bandwidth,and the average DBH and plant height were 2.81±0.21?cm?and 5.90±0.41?m?respectively,and then it gradually dropped from 10 m bandwidth to 20 m bandwidth.However,the number of bamboo shoots produced in the RBC model with 10 m bandwidth was the highest,which was better than of the 20 m and 5 m bandwidth.?3?The net photosynthetic rate of bamboo forest with RBC model was higher than that of selective cutting and clear cutting.The 5 m bandwidth‘s net photosynthetic rate?12.09±0.35[?mol CO2/?m2·s?]?is the greatest,then 10 m bandwidth,11.71±0.58[?mol CO2/?m2·s?]was the second.?4?Based on the analysis and comparison,results showed that the average annual profit of RBC model is higher than selective cutting and clear cutting.The average annual output value was 7780.38±267.51?yuan/hm2?and the profit of RBC model with 10m bandwidth was?4913.36±267.51?yuan/hm2?,which were the largest in the three kinds of bamboo cutting models.According to different bandwidth,RBC model of 5 m bandwidth and 10 m bandwidth are better than other cutting models for the quality of new bamboo.Suitable width guaranteed bamboo nutrient supply,because the effective utilization rate of sunlight and net photosynthetic rate were all increased.Then,bamboo accumulated more photosynthetic products,and the quality of new bamboo was improved evidently.Under the RBC model with 5 m and 10 m bandwidth,bamboo forests regeneration and growth supported the needs of sustainable development,and 10 m bandwidth can maximize the benefits.Therefore,in the future,the 10 m bandwidth is the best choice for the Ph.glauca forest productivity and management,not only guaranteeing the ecological benefits of bamboo forest,also increasing the economic benefit of bamboo forest.In conclusion,this study puts the new model of RBC from theory into practice,with the characteristic of feasibility and high efficiency.It also provided theoretical basis and technical support to solve the problem of bamboo cutting in small and medium-sized bamboo forests.Moreover,the study provided practical significance to the prosperity of rural industry and the alleviation poverty by science and technology.
