Since the term "low-carbon economy" first appeared in the British energy white paper The Future of Our Energy:Creating a Low-carbon Economy in 2003,After that, all countries have begun to realize the threat brought by energy security and climate change like British, and the term "low-carbon consumption" has gradually entered the public’s vision. In recent years, the phenomenon of climate deterioration has become increasingly evident, which has caused serious adverse effects on human life, and the problems of ecological environment need to be solved immediately.Carbon dioxide emissions are also one of the main causes of bad environment and climate change,so,energy saving and emission reduction is an inevitable requirement to safeguard the long-term interests of the Chinese nation.Regulating the low-carbon energy use behavior of rural residents is an important way to achieve the goal of energy conservation and emission reduction, and also an important guarantee to achieve sustainable development in rural areas and promote the construction of rural ecological civilization. At present, the research on low-carbon energy is mainly embodied in the following two aspects: first, the existing research mainly focuses on the macro level, and the research results are relatively rich;second,at the micro level, the research object is mostly based on urban residents, few studies focus on rural residents. Therefore, this paper takes Poyang Lake Eco-economic Zone as an example to study the low-carbon energy use behavior of rural residents.370 rural residents in 19 counties(cities and districts)were randomly selected in the survey area to conduct a questionnaire survey. The sample data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis and get the factor analysis of variables. Then two-step clustering and binary logistic regression analysis were carried out to divide the rural residents with different psychological characteristics and different historical stages experience into different groups. And considerthat if the relevant policy tools will act on the low-carbon energy use of each group.if so,what is the effect. The results show that:Most of the energy used by rural residents in Poyang Lake Eco-economic Zone is based on traditional bio-energy and tends to be converted to commercial energy, but it is in the early stage of conversion,so the demand for energy will continue to grow.In the process of energy use, rural residents in Poyang Lake Eco-economic Zone can be divided into three groups: low-carbon,intermediate and high-carbon.Through the study,it is found that women, young and highly educated, all have a strong awareness of low-carbon.Families with small size and high diplomacy tend to be "low-carbon" energy users. But the families with more labour force are generally "high carbon type".Policies have an impact on the use of low-carbon energy for rural residents.Different policies have different effects on rural residents, and the same policy tool has differentimpact on different rural residents.Economic and physicaltools have a positive impact on rural residents’ low-carbon energy use behavior;however,Maybe due to the psychological role of rural residents, administrative tools have a significant reverse regulatory effect on low-carbon energy use;information tools have a significant effect on "intermediate" and "high-carbon" rural residents.
