The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary catalase preparations supplementation on growth performance and antioxidant properties of early weaned piglets. The test was designed using a single factor randomized trial,72 piglets weaned at 21 d were choosed with similar weights and divided into two groups randomly according to the principle of half male and female, six replicates per group, six pigs per replicate. One group was feed the nomal food and another group was feed the food with 0.2% catalase preparations, and test period is 35 days.During the feeding process,we recorded the test data such as feed intake, body weight, fecal score and diarrhea index. On the 7th,21 st,28th and 35 th day,one piglet which close to the average body weight of each repeated was selected for collecting serum and stored frozen. After that, two piglets(1 male and 1 female)of each replicate were choosed for challenged with lipopolysaccharide(LPS)at 36 d,12 piglets were intraperitoneally injected with LPS(50 ?g/kg BW)and the other 12 piglets with saline. The blood was collected at 0,2,and 4 h after the injection. After 4 hours of challenge, the piglets were anesthetized and slaughtered, and the liver, duodenum, jejunum, ileum tissue and chyme were collected for later experiments. The results show that:(1)The addition of catalase in the diet had no significant effect on the growth performance of weaned piglets(P > 0.05),but the average daily gain, average daily feed intake and feed conversion efficiency were higher than the control group.(2)The addition of catalase in the diet significantly increased the height of jejunum villi(P<0.05).The difference in duodenum and ileum villus height between the two groups did not reach significant level(P > 0.05),but the villus height of duodenum and ileum increased by 1.16% and 12.16% respectively. There was no significant difference in duodenal, jejunal and ileal crypt depth between the two groups(P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in duodenum ratio between duodenum, jejunum and ileum between the two groups.(P > 0.05).(3)The addition of catalase preparation to the diet significantly increased the activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX)in blood and liver tissues, and the difference was extremely significant at 2 h and 4 h(P <0.01).The GSH activity was increased in blood(except 21 d and challenge 0h)and in the liver, and the difference was extremely significant at 4 h(P <0.01).The activity of CAT was reduced in blood(except 21 d and 28 d)and liver tissue. The activity of CAT in the blood of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group at 2 h(P <0.05).(4)The Firmicutes of the catalase group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P <0.05),and the Proteobacteria were significantly higher than the control group(P <0.05).Conclusion:Adding 0.2% catalase to the diet of weaned piglets had no significant effect on growth performance and diarrhea rate of piglets(P > 0.05),but it significantly increased the villus height of the jejunum(P<0.05)and intestinal microflora structure(P <0.01).The antioxidant properties of piglets, especially glutathione and glutathione peroxidase in pig blood after injection of LPS have a greater impact.
