Yak production is a pillar industry in the western plateau pastoral area.Maiwa yak is a good local yak breed listed in the Cattle Breed Chronicle of China.Developing Maiwa yak farming vigorously plays an important role in enhancing the regional competitiveness of Northwest Sichuan and promoting the rapid development of local pastoral economy. In order to investigate main influencing factors of Maiwa yak fattening on economic benefits in different feeding methods(feeding in shed, traditional grazing)in cold season, the comparative experiment of Maiwa yak feeding in cold season was carried out in Longri Breeding Farm of Sichuan Province, from November 2016 to March 2017.Forty3-year-old Maiwa yak males were selected for the experiment. The experimental animals were divided into experimental group and control group,20 in each group. The experimental group and control group were fed in shed and traditional grazing respectively. After 120 d,the experimental animals were weighed and slaughtered. The correlation analysis was carried out.At the end of the experiment,Duncan method was used to analyze the difference between the population weight of experimental cattle and the meat quality of yak.It was found that the average weight of experimental group increased by 58.9(+2.5 kg),while that of control group decreased by 51.3(+3.16 kg).The live weight of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.01),and the slaughter performance of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P < 0.01).Secondly,through the accounting cost method to calculate the fattening costs, benefits and profits,it is concluded that,on the basis of price by carcass weight in the local market in spring 2017,50 yuan per kilogram, the average profit per head in the experimental group will be 1375.4 yuan through 120 days fattening, which is close to level of local monthly wage(1380 yuan)in 2017.is,while the control group loses 193.45 yuan per head. Finally,by means of multiple linear regression method, the factors affecting the fattening benefits of Maiwa yak in cold season were evaluated. The results showed that the most important factor affecting the net profit of Maiwa yak fattening in cold season was carcass weight(associated with weight gain and dressing percentage). The above experimental results show that the warm shed fattening in cold season can not only meet nutritional requirement for growth of Maiwa yak, shorten the raising cycle, increasing slaughter rate, but also improve the herdsmen's income per unit time, and promote the herdsmen's income;at the same time,it also speeds up the turnover of yak herds, which is conducive to the herd structural optimization. This study has positive theoretical and practical significance for popularizing the supplementary feeding technology of Maiwa yak in warm shed in cold season, resolving the imbalance between the lack of food and nutrition of yak in cold season and the seasonal growth of natural forage, and promoting the local herdsmen to increase their income.
