In this experiment,C-type male sterile line C-848 and its maintainer line H19 were used as the research object.The activities of superoxide dismutase,peroxidase,and catalase in the leaves of the two plants were studied.Malondialdehyde,soluble sugars,soluble protein,free proline and chlorophyll content in leaves of were studied and compared.Restorer lines 48-5,133-9,139-9,139-10,B37 and Hua N 6 matched with sterile lines.Using Linao 1 as a control,the fertility recovery and heterosis of F1 were analyzed.The results are as follows:1.The anthers of C-848 were not exposed,the shape was thin and shrunken,and the plumpness was poor.No pollen grains were found in anthers.No fertile pollen grains were found by iodine microscopic examination.The ears of H19 grew well and developed.The anthers are exposed,the plumpness is good,the pollen amount is large,the fertility of the iodine microscopic examination is more than 95%,and the fertility is high.The length of the main axis of the male sterile line was longer than that of the maintainer line,but the number of tassel branches was less than that of the maintianer line.The male sterile line C-848 was planted for many years and many seasons.No fertile plants were found in different generations of backcross breeding.2.The activity of SOD in the leaves of the CMS lines was lower than that of the maintainer line at all stages of growth and development;from the seedling stage to the jointing stage,POD activity in both the CMS line and the maintainer line's leaves increased slightly,and the difference was not significant.From vegetative growth to reproductive growth,the POD activity in the CMS line increased rapidly,and was significantly different from that of the maintainer line.The POD activity in the CMS line was always higher than that in the maintainer line;after the maize was transferred to reproductive growth,The CAT activity in the CMS line changed slowly and was much lower than that in the maintainer line,and the difference was most significant at silking stage.The MDA content in the CMS lines was higher than maintainer line in in all growth stages of maize,the most significant difference in the tasseling stage.3.During the growth stages of maize,the content of soluble sugar in the leaves of male sterile lines was higher than that of their maintainer lines,and the difference was most significant between male sterile lines;the content of soluble proteins in the leaves of male sterile lines and maintainer lines decreased The trend was that the CMS line was always lower than the maintainer line;the free proline content in the male sterile leaves of the male sterile line and silking stage was significantly lower than its maintainer line.4.The contents of chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,and chlorophyll in the leaves of the CMS line were lower than those of maintainer line.5.Matching groups of 48-5,133-9,139-9,139-10,B37 and Hua N 6 restorer lines and CMS lines were used.Linao 1 was used as a control and the six cross combinations were found.The fertility of F1 was restored,and the yields of the four combinations of C-848×48-5,C-848×133-9,C-848×139-10,and C-848×B37 were significantly higher than those of the control.
