In this experiment,13 maize inbred lines of different types were used as parents(8 male and 5 female)to match 40 hybrid maize combinations according to NCII design.41 combinations(including 1 CK variety,the same below)were identified by random block design at 3 points a year.Based on the comprehensive analysis of biological yield and key agronomic and quality traits affecting biological yield in different hybrid combinations,the comprehensive evaluation of maize silage characteristics of hybrid combinations and parent inbred lines was carried out.The main findings are as follows:1.The biological yield of different hybrid maize combinations and the key agronomic characters and nutritional quality traits affecting biological yield were compared and analyzed.Among them,HC×S273,HC×J51,NG5×J51,PH6WC×T32,NG5×T32,HC×T32,NG5×CML171,NG5×R65,HC×CML171,PH6WC×Z78,Z58×T32 showed better comprehensive characters.2.The results of combining ability analysis showed that the GCA and SCA effect values of various traits were considered.The biological yields of HC,NG5,T32,J51 and FN004 in 13 maize inbred lines and the GCA performance of key agronomic traits affecting biological yield were better.The silage quality GCA of the inbred lines Z58,HC,C7-2 and Z78 showed good performance.According to the biological yield of each hybrid maize combination and the SCA effect values affecting the key agronomic and quality traits of biological yield,the combinations with good SCA performance in most traits were Y3052×R65,PH6WC×Z78,Z58×T32,HC×S273,NG5×J51,Z58×CML17.3.The heterosis analysis of plot biological yield showed that the TCA effect value of most hybrid combinations was positive by calculating the total combining ability effect value of biological yield of 40 hybrid combinations,which indicated that there were heterosis combinations in 40 hybrid combinations.There were 4 combinations with T32 as male parent,3 combinations with FNOO4 as male parent,2 combinations with J51 as male parent and 2 combinations with HC as female parent in the top 10 combinations of total biological yield combining ability of hybrid combinations,and there were 4 combinations with T32 as male parent,3 combinations with T32 as male parent,2 combinations with Jiao 51 as male parent and 2 combinations with Yellow C as female parent.There were three combinations with NG5 and PH6 WC as female parent,which indicated that T32,FN004,Jiao 51,Huang C,NG5,PH6 WC and other inbred lines were easy to produce hybrid combinations with high biological yield and suitable for silage.The heterosis patterns of hybrid maize combinations with top 10 biological yield were analyzed.the heterosis patterns of these combinations could be divided into three types,among which there were 7 combinations of Reid×tropical germplasm model.There were 1 combination(10%)in Lancaster group×78599 group and 2 combinations(20%)in Reid group×Guizhou local germplasm.4.The high yield analysis was carried out by Duncan's new repolarization difference method.the results showed that 17 of the 40 hybrid combinations increased yield compared with the CK,and the yield increased by 1.04%-16.37%.Five of the 17 combinations were prepared by male inbred lines T32 and FN004.There were 3 in the J51 group and 4 female inbred lines HC and NG5 respectively,which were consistent with the results of GCA analysis of biological yield and key agronomic traits affecting biological yield.The stability analysis of 41 hybrid maize combinations was carried out by using coefficient of variation method,regression coefficient method and high stability coefficient method.the results showed that the evaluation results of the three methods were different,but generally consistent.Through the analysis of the parents of the combination with good stability,the combination prepared by inbred lines PH6 WC,HC,CML171,FN004 and R65 could be screened out with good stability.5.There is a certain correlation between the biological yield traits of hybrid maize combinations and the key agronomic traits affecting biological yield.the combinations with high biological yield can be indirectly selected through better agronomic traits.There is also a correlation between quality traits,and multiple quality traits can be selected at the same time.The correlation among the traits indicated that the relationship among the traits should be coordinated in the breeding of silage maize combinations.
