The authenticity of geographical origins of agricultural products has become an increasingly urgent information for stakeholders in the chains of food safety interest.As the first of the "thirteen fragrances",Dahongpao Pepper(Zanthoxylum bungeanum)is one of the widely used condiments in China and even all over the world.The discrimination of geographical origins,especially high-quality ones,plays an important role in consumer rights and fair market trade.In this study,Dahongpao Pepper were taken as research objects.The mineral elements and volatile organic compounds(VOCs)of Dahongpao Pepper from different areas(including Hancheng,Shaanxi;Maoxian,Sichuan;Hanyuan,Sichuan;Ruicheng,Shanxi;Wudu,Gansu)were specifically analyzed.On this basis,artificial neural network(ANN),support vector machine(SVM),principal component analysis(PCA),linear discriminant analysis(LDA)methods were used to build a model of geographical origin discrimination.The discriminant results of this model were further verified.The research results were following:1.There were different characteristics of mineral elements in different main producing of Dahongpao Peppers.The discrimination of geographical origins of Dahongpao Peppers was carried out based on mineral elements.The results showed that the accuracy were 86.0%and 96.0% based on LDA and ANN after PCA analysis,while the SVM made a higher discrimination rate of 100%.2.The discrimination of geographical origins of Dahongpao Peppers was carried out based on VOCs determined by ion mobility spectrometry.The results showed that the correct classifications were 82.0% and 84.0% based on LDA and ANN after PCA analysis with mathematical models.RBF kernel function and Linear kernel function showed a higheraccuracy rate of 98.0% and 100% respectively.3.The discrimination of geographical origins of Dahongpao Peppers was carried out based on VOCs determined by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(GC-MS).The results showed that the correct classifications were 98.0% and 98.0% based on LDA and ANN,while the SVM exhibited a much higher distinguish effect with an identification rate of 100%.4.In a word,different discriminant results were confirmed by using above different component analysis combined with chemo-metrics methods.Although the geographical origins of Dahongpao Pepper were completely identified based on SVM,the speed and convenience was also affected by composition detection equipments and different efficiency.The results of this study provided effective technical support for the discrimination of Dahongpao Pepper geographical origins and also gave some important references for further study of other spices.
