Protective Effect Of Baihu Decoction On Experimental Acute Heat Stressed Mice

In the process of modern livestock production,the heat stress of livestock and poultry caused by high-density intensive production,climate warming and other factors has attracted more and more attention.Heat stress can lead to physiological dysfunction,reduced growth and production performance,even shock and death.In the livestock production,it is vital to reduce the adverse effects of heat stress and find suitable feed additives to enhance the animal's resistance to heat stress.At present,among many anti-heat stress relieving agents,Chinese herbal medicine with long-lasting effectiveness and no drug residue shows advantages as feed additives to resist heat stress.Baihu decoction is widely used in modern clinical practice,and its main function is to clear away heat and regenerate body fluids.However,there is no research on Baihu decoction applying in heat stress.The purpose of this experiment is to study the protective effect of Baihu decoction on experimental acute heat stress mice.Ninety-six mice were randomly divided into blank group,heat-treated group and Baihu decoction group(32 each),and the mice were heat-treated using a biochemical incubator.Before the heat treatment,mice in the Baihu decoction group were gavaged with Baihu decoction,and mice in the blank group and the heat-treated control group were gavaged with the same amount of saline.At the end of the experiment,blood,liver,jejunum and hypothalamus of mice were collected to detect serum biochemical indicators;serum inflammatory factor expression levels;liver and jejunum oxidation related indicators;serum,jejunum,liver and hypothalamus HSP70 content and observation of liver and jejunum pathological changes.The results were as follows:1.Compared with the blank group,the weight of the mice in the heat treatment group was significantly reduced(P<0.05);the difference in organ index was not significant(P>0.05);the levels of serum ALT,AST,CK,BUN,TNF-?,IL-6 and IL-1? was significantly increased(P<0.05);the levels of GSH and T-SOD in liver and jejunum tissue were significantly reduced,and the level of MDA was significantly increased(P<0.05);the pathological section of liver tissue showed central venous congestion and red blood cells entered the tissue;the content of HSP70 in serum,liver and jejunum tissue was significantly increased(P<0.05);the difference of HSP70 content in hypothalamic tissue was not significant(P>0.05).2.Baihu decoction could significantly relieve the weight loss of mice caused by acute heat stress(P<0.05);significantly reduce the serum ALT,AST,CK and BUN levels of mice(P<0.05);significantly reduce TNF-?,IL-6 and IL-1? level(P<0.05);increase GSH content and T-SOD activity in liver tissue and reduce MDA level(P>0.05);significantly increase GSH content and T-SOD activity in jejunum tissue(P<0.05);decrease central venous congestion of liver tissue reduces the pathological damage of liver tissue caused by heat stress;significantly decrease the content of HSP70 in serum,liver and jejunum tissue(P<0.05).Conclusion: Baihu decoction can effectively relieve the oxidative damage and inflammation caused by acute heat stress,reduce the liver and jejunum damage and the level of heat shock protein 70 in the body,and has a better protective effect on experimental acute heat stress mice.
