As a resource-exhausted city,Huaying City focuses on the construction of"green Huaying"during urban development transforming. The large-scale artificial cypress pure forest left over in the past is currently facing the problems of single tree species, simple structure, and low ecological service functions. In order to improve the ecological service function of pure cypress forest in the hilly area of Huaying City, and to realize the healthy and sustainable development of forest land, this article starts from the water conservation function and takes the local pure cypress forest as the research object from the perspective of water conservation function. The purpose of the study is to clarify the water conservation function status of cypress forest in the local typical forests of Huaying City, analyze the influencing factors of the forest land water conservation function, and put forward advices about forest rehabilitation to the improvement of the water conservation function of local cypress forest based on existing research results and experience. The main research results and conclusions are as follows:(1)The average litter volume of cypress forest in Huaying City is 1.96t/hm~2,and the maximum water holding capacity of undecomposed layer and semi-decomposed layer reaches 289.29%and 307.37%.The total porosity of soil is higher, reaching 56.04%,of which capillary porosity accounts for more.As a result, the maximum water holding capacity of the soil is higher, but the effective storage capacity is poor.(2)The response of the maximum water holding capacity and effective water storage capacity of cypress forest litter to the forest density in Huaying City was significantly different(P<0.01).The range of total soil porosity varies from 41.30%to58.07%,and the effect of stand density on it is significantly different(P<0.01)which showed that high-density stands are greater than low-density stands. The effective storage capacity of forest land with different forest density is significantly different(P<0.01).When the stand density is 4250plants/hm~2,the effective retention capacity is the best and the water conservation capacity is the strongest.(3)The maximum water holding capacity of the soil decreases linearly with the increase of the aggregate content of less than 0.25 mm,and has a significant correlation with the organic matter content of aggregate lager than 5 mm(P<0.05).The soil MWD,GMD,and fractal dimension D have no significant effects on the soil water holding characteristics. There is a significant positive correlation between effective storage capacity and organic matter content(P<0.05)and the linear relationship is y=1.58x-12.54,R2=0.6946.The soil effective storage capacity is also significantly affected by the total organic matter content of aggregate and 0.5?1 mm aggregate organic matter(P<0.05).(4)The density and site conditions of cypress plantation in Huaying City are quite different. In order to solve the problem of single tree species and unreasonable allocation, the sparse forest land shall be prepared and replanted, and the over dense forest land shall be thinned properly and create forest gap.Plants with strong adaptability like bamboo and alder are selected in the poor areas, and camphor is suitable for better site conditions. In order to improve the survival rate, the newly planted seedlings should be tended for a certain period of time.Eventually, the original forest stand will be transformed into a more complex and stable ecosystem to improve its water conservation capacity.
