Assessing The Impact Of Deforestation On Household Income Of Local Communities In Anjouan,Comoros

The study examined,and the study investigate the effect of deforestation on household income in Anjouan community in Comoros.The main aim of the study was to assess,and examine the effect of deforestation on household income,and to identify the causes of deforestation in Anjouan community of Comoros.However primary data was used in the research that was collected by using questionnaire interview.Primary data was employed in the analysis which was collected using questionnaires.The study employed both descriptive statistics,and OLS multiple regression analysis in assessing the causes of deforestation and the effect of deforestation on household income.Findings revealed that the main causes of deforestation in Anjouan community are farming activities which include land preparation method,system of farming and the mode of production.Furthermore,result revealed that household size,number of farmland own,wage,secondary education,college education,and internal factor of deforestation has a significant effect on household income while labor-intensive and forest policy has negative significant effect on household income.However,the following policy options were proffered in order to ensure effective,and efficient mitigation of the deforestation effects on crop production,and household income,it recommended that resource capacity of the institutions be strengthened if available so as to enable them function effectively institutions have to be re-equipped within the essential logistics,such as computers,and vehicles,which can improve their operations.
