Grassland animal husbandry is the pillar industry of agriculture, and the main industry supporting the development of rural economic in Inner Mongolia. However, due to excessive population growth, overgrazing, emphasizing agriculture and light grazing, and lagging innovation of business model, the ecological environment in Inner Mongolia has deteriorated severely, and the sustainable development of animal husbandry faces challenges. How to promote the modernization of animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia? How to realize the coordination of animal husbandry economy and population resource environment? How to realize the sustainable development of animal husbandry economy? These problems had become urgent to be explored and solved. This paper is guided by the theory of sustainable development and the theory of ecological animal husbandry, using the method of literature review, case analysis, and logic analysis, combining the relevant data released by the government.Firstly, this paper is to analyze the sustainable development status and problems of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia.Secondly, this paper is to reveal the main reasons and factors impacting the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry, and to offer ideas and countermeasures for promoting the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia. The research content of the thesis is divided into six parts.First, the key issues to be solved are clarified at the basis of the research background analysis, the relevant literature and their research results are combed to lay a theoretical foundation for the research, and the design of research plan of this paper(including the research purpose and meaning, research ideas, research content and research methods).Second, analyzing the current status of development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia, including the operation status, the status of labor resources, the scale of livestock and the balance of grassland and livestock, and the market situation of animal products, and revealing the problems such as overgrazing, environmental pollution, grassland degradation and low technological level and quality of products, etc.Thirdly,to analyze the reasons impacting the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia.Fourthly,to explore the factors that restrict the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia. The fifth is domestic and international case studies, including comparative analysis with the development of animal husbandry in New Zealand and Australia, drawing on the advanced experience and practices of their development.Sixthly,to offer countermeasures and suggestions to promote the sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia. The research found that the problems affecting the development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia are accelerated grassland degradation, serious environmental pollution, prominent overgrazing, low scientific and technological level of processing of livestock products, and low safety and quality standard for livestock products, etc. Those problems seriously restrict the level and ability of sustainable development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia.Focusing on promoting the transformation and development of grassland animal husbandry in Inner Mongolia, and in order to provide continuous driving force for the revitalization of pastoral areas in Inner Mongolia, the governments at all levels in Inner Mongolia must promote changes in strategic strategies, legal systems, and business models, etc. And the government should stick to the development path of ecological animal husbandry, and improve the ecological protection mechanism to control the carrying capacity of the grassland effectively.
