The germplasm resources of Camellia sinensis(L.)are the basis of improving tea production in plantations.Xixiang County is the largest producing county in northwest China.It has a long history of tea planting and large area of tea garden,so rich of resources.In order to protect and make full use of them,enrich the material for tea breeding,we collection of 32 single tree and the promotion of 4 improved varieties to propagate,unified cultivation and management,the lines were formed,and identified and evaluated their biological characters and biochemicals.The main findings are as follows:(1)Comparison of biological characters: Based on the analysis and comparison of 10 characters,the resources are mainly shrub type,The Middle Leaf species are dominant,and the large leaf species are also included.And semi-open tree appearance,the leaves were yellow-green,medium hairy and tender,the leaves were oval and long elliptic,the leaf body was slightly inflexed,the leaf margin was microwaved,the leaf surface was slightly uplifted and the leaf tip was acuminate.And 7 special resources with 3 kinds of leaf color as purple and 4 kinds of leaf color as yellow-green were selected.(2)Analysis of biochemical components: Through the analysis and comparison of the five components,it was found that the local resources mainly consisted of high water extract,high amino acid and low ratio of phenol to ammonia,the average coefficient of variation was 13.97%,especially the coefficient of variation of theophylline was 19.59%,which indicated that there was a great potential for improvement of theophylline.The mean genetic diversity index was 1.90.4 resources with high caffeine content,19 resources with free amino acid content over 4.0%,3 resources with tea polyphenol content over 20.0% and 27 resources with low phenol-ammonia ratio were screened out.(3)Cluster analysis: According to the cluster analysis of biochemical components,36 resources were divided into 4 groups,the first group was suitable green tea resources,the second group was both red and green tea resources,and the third group was high caffeine resources.(4)Prediction of trial production: According to the correlation curve model of biochemical components and quality of green tea and black tea,the quality of tea made from different materials was explored.The average quality score in the green tea of 5 resources was higher than that of Anjibaicha,the average quality score in black tea and green tea of 3 resources was higher than that of Fuding Dabai,which had the highest score in the control variety.
