Objective:By detecting the plasma activities of protein C and protein S in patients with venous thromboembolism(VTE)and healthy people in northeast China,we investigated the correlation between protein C,protein S activities and VTE in northeast China, and analyzed the relationship between gender, age and protein C,protein S activities. Methods:We selected 112 patients as the observation group who were dignosed of pulmonary thromboembolism(PTE)and(or)deep venous thrombosis(DVT)from April 2016-September 2017 in our hospital. The dignostic method of PTE is CT pulmonary angiogram(CTPA)or pulmonary perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography(SPECT),the diagnostic method of DVT is color Doppler ultrasound, and the patients all met the exclusion criteria. The control group consisted of 112 cases of healthy subjects in our hospital for physical examination, their residence, age and sex were the same as the observation group. The United Nations World Health Organization divided man into three stages by age:youth, the prime of life, and old age, according this guideline,we divided VTE patients and healthy people into young group(<45 years),middle-aged group(45-59 years)and old group(?60 years).According to gender, the VTE patients of observation group and healthy people in the control group were divided into male and female groups. Before treated with thrombolytic or anticoagulant therapy, subjects' venous blood was drawn into vacuum tubes, and each blood sample was underwent anticoagulation and centrifugation.Protein C activity was assayed by means of chromogenic substrate method, protein S activity was assayed by means of solidification method. We used SPSS22.0 software for data processing and statistical analysis. Results:Plasma protein C,protein S activities of 112 VTE patients in the observation group(79.53±24.58 %,88.36±38.65 %)were significantly lower than that in the control group(98.01±20.18 %?129.43±45.34 %),there was a significant difference compared with the control group(P <0.001).The decreased detection rates of plasma protein C and protein S activities of 112 VTE patients in the observation group(33.9%?23.2%)were significantly higher than that in the control group(8.0% ? 3.5%),the difference was statistically significant(P <0.001).Plasma protein C activity in 39 elderly men who were VTE patients was significantly lower than in 30 elderly women with VTE,there was a significant difference compared with the control group(P = 0.003).Except for elderly patients with VTE,there was a significant difference in plasma protein C activity between sexes, there was no significant difference in plasma protein C,protein S activity between different genders in different age groups(P> 0.05).There was no difference in plasma protein C,protein S activities between different age groups of observation group and control group(P> 0.05).There was no significant difference in plasma protein C and protein S activities between different sex groups of observation group and control group(P> 0.05).Conclusions:1.In our study, the aim of collecting the medical history and family history is to exclude the secondary risk factors of VTE and the acquired factors of protein C and protein S deficiency, the results suggest that plasma protein C,protein S activities of VTE patients in northeast China was significantly lower than the healthy person, and the decreased detection rates of plasma protein C and protein S activities in VTE patients was significantly higher than that in healthy controls.Namely, hereditary protein C and protein S deficiencies increase the risk of VTE and have important predictive value for the prevalence of VTE in northeast China.2.For VTE patients older than 60 years, there was a difference in protein C activity between different sexes,in other words, the protein C activity of men was lower than women.Which indicated that gender has an effect on protein C activity in VTE patients who over 60 years old.3.Whether VTE patients or healthy people,we compared the protein C,protein S activities of men over the age of 60 with that of men 45-59 years, the result showed a downward trend; In patients, protein C,protein S activities of women over the age of 60 were higher than that of women aged 45-59;Compared with healthy women aged 45-59,the protein C,protein S of healthy women over 60 years old showed an upward trend. The above results showed that sex,age may affect protein C,protein S activities.
