Part 1 The comparative research between MRI and pathology of common peroneal nerveObjective: To study the magnetic resonance imaging performance of common peroneal nerve, and the measurement study of repeatability and reliability of the magnetic resonance imaging of common peroneal nerve. Methods: A body specimen and 10 cases of healthy people were selected to get an MRI for the left knee joint.Scanning sequence include the conventional scanning sequence and T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence. We collect dates 3 times for the body specimen, then we made pathological section about common peroneal nerve. All of the original images were transferred to the Philips post-processing working station.Choose the beginning of common peroneal nerve(the station of ischiadic nerve migration to common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve),then measure major axis and cross-sectional area on the T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence.Every level were measured three times,to calculate the average value of three measurements.Result:1.The body specimen and 10 volunteers were completed conventional MR inspection and T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence successfully. All images show no distortion,no neurological disease. The common peroneal nerve is tapered down from the beginning, the quality of images is poor at the neck of fibula.2.MRI images about the body specimen show that at the beginning of normal peroneal nerve the values of major axis=3.01±0.09 mm,cross-sectional area = 5.18±0.38 mm2.Pathological section maps shows the values of major axis is 3.5mm at the same level. The average age of all volunteers is 42.4±18.0;The normal parameters values of major axis,cross-sectional area in normal peroneal nerve were acquires at the beginning of normal peroneal nerve, major axis =3.04±0.33mm;cross-sectional area= 5.93±1.21 mm2.Conclusion: 1.The common peroneal nerve is tapered down from the beginning, the quality of images is poor at the neck of fibula. It is suited to evaluate on the MRI images, because there have little error at the beginning of normal peroneal nerve when we do measurements.2.There were no correlation difference in values of major axis,cross-sectional area between body specimen and healthy people, the measurement getted from MRI images was close to the date acquired from the pathological section maps. So,the dates acquires from MRI images are reliable.Part 2 The measurement and research of MRI of healthy volunteers for common peroneal nerveObjective: To obtain the magnetic resonance imaging of common peroneal nerve in healthy volunteers and the comprehensive measured date of normal peroneal nerve, which can reference information for the quantify diagnosis in future. Methods: 52 cases of healthy people were selected to get an MRI for double knee joints, all are right-handed,include the T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence and DTI scanning sequence. All the original images were transferred to the Philips post-processing working station.Choose the beginning of common peroneal nerve(the station of ischiadic nerve migration to common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve),then measure major axis and cross-sectional area on the T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence. The values of FA,ADC were measured at FA maps and ADC maps, which were get from Philips post-processing working station.Every level were measured three times,to calculate the average value of three measurements. The dates were analyzed with a software package SPSS21.0.All quantitative date were expressed by mean±standard deviations. It was used two independent sample t test?single factor analysis of variance and correlation analysis. The difference was statistically significant in all statistical analysis(P<0.05).Result:1.At the T2W-PROSET-3D-FFE scanning sequence, common peroneal nerve was high(bright)signal.b=800s/ mm2 DTI images show that common peroneal nerve isequal signal,ADC images show common peroneal nerve was deep green signal,FA images show common peroneal nerve was yellow-green signal.2.The average age of all volunteers is 49.1±16.2;The normal parameters values of major axis,cross-sectional area,FA and ADC value in normal peroneal nerve were acquires at the beginning of normal peroneal nerve, the dates of the left common peroneal nerve are major axis =2.91±0.37mm;cross-sectional area = 5.64±0.96mm2;FA=0.58±0.06;ADC=(1.05±0.08)×10-3mm2/s,the dates of the right common peroneal nerve are major axis=3.08±0.41mm;cross-sectional area = 6.28±1.22mm2;FA=0.56±0.06;ADC=(1.28±0.10)×10-3mm2/s ?3.At the beginning of normal peroneal nerve, there were statistical difference in values of major axis,cross-sectional area,FA and ADC value between double knee joints(P<0.05),but there were no statistical difference among the values of major axis,cross-sectional area,FA and ADC for different age and different gender(P>0.05).There were no correlation difference in values of major axis,cross-sectional area,FA and ADC value for different height and different weight(|r|<0.50).Conclusion:1.This experiment checkup double knee joints, the result shows that there were statistical difference in values of cross-sectional area, major axis,FA and ADC value between double knee joints, the values of cross-sectional area, major axis,ADC value are left greater than right, and about FA value shows crosscurrent. The values of cross-sectional area, major axis,FA and ADC value have no correlation for different age and gender, height and weight.2.The normal reference values of major axis,cross-sectional area and DTI parameters(FA,ADC value)provide reference information for the quantify diagnosis in future.
