Expression Of Vimentin In Ovarian Endometrioid Adenocarcinoma And Its Clinical Significance

Objective: To explore the expression and clinical significance of Vimentin in ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma.Methods: The expression of Vimentin was investigated by immunohistochemistry method in 40 cases of ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma,11 cases of ovarian borderline endometrioid cancer,30 cases of ovarian endometriosis and 30 cases of normal ovarian tissue.Different expression levels of Vimentin were compared in these 4 groups of tissues.Besides,the correlation between Vimentin expression and clinicopathologic features(age,FIGO stage,differentiation grade,lymph node mestastasis and prognosis)of ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma were analyzed.Results: The positive expression rates of Vimentin in normal ovarian tissue,ovarian endometriosis,ovarian borderline endometrioid cancer and endometrioid adenocarcinoma were 6.67%(2/30),43.3%(13/30),60%(6/10)and 85%(34/40),respectively,which were increased gradually(P<0.05).The expression of Vimentin in ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma was not related to age,differentiation grade(P>0.05);was positive correlated with the FIGO stage and lymph node/distant metastasis(P<0.05).Conclusion: High expression of Vimentin may be related to the occurrence and development of ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma and promotes the invasion and metastasis of ovarian endometrioid adenocarcinoma.
