Objective: To determine if uterine and ovarian have any advantage over intraluminal ultrasound measurements and if the luteninizing hormonereleasing hormone(LHRH)stimulation test can significantly distinguish between precocious puberty(PP)and premature thelarche(PT)over ROC curves. Methods: referred consecutively for evaluation of breast budding before age 8 years underwent physical examination,LHRH stimulation test, bone age assessment, and Intraluminal ultrasound. The diagnosis of CPP or PT was based on clinical judgment. The clinical, laboratory, and ultrasound data of the PP and PT groups were compared.Results:1.13 girls were diagnosed with CPP and 35 with PT.Significant differences in most of the uterine and ovarian measurements were found between the groups.2.The cut-off follows: the length of uterine body was 2.0cm,the width of uterine body was 1.8cm,the thickness of uterine body was 1.16 cm,the volume of uterine body was 1.83 mL,the volume of ovary was 1.86 mL.3.Serum basal luteinizing hormone(LH)was 0.33IU/L.Conclusions: Increased uterine and ovarian measurements maybe an early and sensitivesign of PP.Intraluminal ultrasound,a noninvasive, inexpensive, and reliable tool, may give the clinician a complementary indication to the basal LH in distinguishing isolated PT from early-stage PP in girls with early breast budding.
