Objective:The aim of this study was to be compared with the safety and recurrence rate between radiofrequency thermocoagulation of semilunar ganglion and peripheral branch radiofrequency thermocoagulation in the treatment of primary trigeminal neuralgia. Methods:We selected the patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia from October2013 to July 2017 in the hospital and collected the patients' gender, age, course of disease, preoperative VAS score,BNI classification, and operation.Simultaneously,we acquired the complications, recurrence rate, postoperative VAS score and BNI classification by telephone. Results: There were a total of 311 people to be followed up,31 of them were lost, eventually, there were ony 280 patients to be enrolled in the Research.76 patients suffered from the disease again, there were 34 Patients in the semilunar ganglion group(the recurrence rate of three year was 17.71%),in peripheral branch group, there were 42(the recurrence rate of three year was 40%).Corneal reflex decreased in 22 patients, all occurred in the semilunar ganglion group, and masticatory muscle weakeness occurred in 35 people,30 cases in the semilunar ganglion group, and 5cases in the peripheral branch group. Conclusion: Peripheral radiofrequency thermocoagulation has higher recurrence rate than trigeminal ganglion radiofrequency thermocoagulation, but the incidence of complications is obviously reduced and has higher safety.
