Objective:To respectively analyze the effect of radiofrequency thermocoagulation(RFT)at different temperatures(70??75? and 80?)for patients suffered from trigeminal neuralgia(TN)at single V1,V2 or V3 branch. To clarify the optimal temperature for trigeminal neuralgia at different branch. Methods:A total of 550 patients treated with RFT was recuited, and the number of patients suffered from trigeminal neuralgia at V1,V2 and V3 was seperately 38,257 and 255.All patients were re-divided into group V1-(70?,75?,80?),V2-(70?,75?,80?),V3-(70?,75?,80?).All procedure was performed based on the standard protocol.Patients demographics and angiographic data were collected, and the pain intensity was assessed using numberic rating scale. The response rate, recurrence rate, and facial numbness were evaluated at 1,2,3,4 and 5 years after surgery. Results:There is no significant difference on general data between the different group(P>0.05).The total response rate(>50% pain relief)is above 90%,that is 100%,90.0% and 87.5% when patients with V1 TN were treated with RFT at 70,75 and 80?,93.1%?94.4% and 100% for patients with V2 TN,and 87.7%?94.8% and 95.8% for patients with V3 TN,the difference is not significant between three groups(P>0.05).The totle recurrence ratio is 13.4% at 5 years. For V1 TN at 1,2,3,4 and 5 years, recurrence ratio is all zero at 70?,16.7%?16.7%?16.7%?22.2% and 22.2% at 75?,and 0?14.3%?28.6%?28.6% and 28.6% at 80?.For V2 TN at 1,2,3,4 and 5 years, recurrence ratio is 3.7%?5.6%?5.6%?7.4% and 7.4% at 70?,7.2%?9.6%?10.2%?10.2% and 10.8% at 75?,4.5%?4.5%?4.5%?9.0% and 9.0% at 80?.For V1 and V2 TN at 1,2,3,4 and 5 years, the recurrence ratio didn't exhibit significant differences among the 70?,75? and 80?(P>0.05).For V3 TN at 1,2,3,4 and 5 years, the recurrence ratio was 30.0%,34.0%,34.0%,36.0% and 36.0% at 70?,9.1%,10.9%,11.5%,11.5% and 12.1% at 75?,4.3%,4.3%,13.0%,13.0% and 17.4% at 80?.The recurrence ratio at 70? was higher as compared to that at 75? and 80?(P<0.01),but there was no significant difference between 75 ? and 80 ?(P>0.05).The patients relapsed within 1 year in total patients relapsed within 5 years is 68.1%,that is 50.0% for V1 TN,62.5% for V2 TN,and 73.8% for V3 TN,respectively. There was no significant difference among V1,V2 and V3 TN(P>0.05).For V2 and V3 TN,facial numbness at 75? and 80?was more serious than that at 70?(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between 75? and 80 ?(P>0.05).For V1 TN,facial numbness intensity didn't exhibit significant differences between 70?,75? and 80?(P>0.05).Conclusion:The present study suggested that RFT all exhibited a excellent effect at 70?,75? and 80?.For V3 TN,recurrence rate at 70? is significant higher than it at 75 ? and 80?.For V2 and V3 TN,the ficial numbness is more serious at 75 ? and 80? than at 70?.The present document recommended that RFT at 70? for V1 and V2 TN,and 75? for V3 TN.However,RFT at 80? is not appropriate for any branch of TN.
