Objective: the children asthma is closely related with blood lipid profiles, for lack of trials with infants included, our objective was to study the relationships of wheezing and blood lipid profiles among infants. Methods: In the whole 215 infants with respiratory infections, age, sex, height, weight, feeding pattern, wheezing frequency, wheezing clinical manifestation, total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein(LDL)and high-density lipoprotein(HDL)were collected.all the infants are divided into six subgroups(normal-weight and overweight/obese,wheezing and non-wheezing,infrequent wheezing and recurrent wheezing, first attacking with wheezing before 6 months and after 6 months, mild and moderate/severe wheezing, formula, breast and mixed feeding),and the blood lipid profiles(TC?TG?LDL?HDL)are analyzed. Results: Among the infants of 1 year-old,the level of TC and TG and LDL of the infants with wheezing are higher than that without wheezing. The infants with recurrent wheezing had significantly higher LDL level than without recurrent wheezing. The infants whose first attacking with wheezing before 6 months had significantly higher TC and LDL level than after 6 months group.Meanwhile, the infants fed by beast-milk had significantly lower TG level among various feeding methods.Overweight/obese infants had significantly higher LDL level in comparison with normal-weight infants. But there were no statistical differences in the whole blood lipid profiles between the mild wheezing group and severe wheezing infants. Conclusion: The TC,TG,LDL levels are associated with wheezing. The serum LDL level increased with the increase of body fat.The infants fed by beast-milk had significantly lower TG level among various feeding methods.
