A Systematic Review Of Acupoint-application Therapy For Asthma

Objective: Using the system evaluation method to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Acupoint Application in the treatment of bronchial asthma.Methods: Formulate the inclusion and exclusion criteria according to the purpose.Using the computer to retrieval CNKI,Wan Fang,VIP,Pub Med,Cochrane database and meanwhile combined with manual retrieval and use the cyber sources to supplement the retrieval.By reading the title,abstract and the full text one by one,strictly screen the clinical randomized controlled trials(RCTs)which accord with the inclusion criteria.And then extract the data.Estimate the quality evaluation of the adopted research and conduct the data analysis and synthesis.Finally apply the GRADE software to evaluate the results.All in all,the ultimate purpose is to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Acupoint Application in the treatment of bronchial asthma objectively.Results: There are totally 12 studies included in this research,including 1288 patients,676 in the treatment group and 612 in the control group.The results of Meta analysis and evidence quality ratings are as follows:1,Quantitative analysis:(1)Total efficiency: Acupoint application therapy VS other therapies(Western medicine,Traditional Chinese medicine,Acupuncture,placebo therapy): [RR=1.20,95%Cl(1.13,1.27)],moderate;(2)FEV1%: Acupoint application therapy VS other therapies(Traditional Chinese medicine,western medicine,acupuncture,placebo therapy):[WMD=10.30,95%CI(9.73,10.88)],low;(3)FEV1/FVC%: Acupoint application therapy VS western medicine /placebo therapy: [WMD=6.89,95%CI(4.07,9.71)],very low;(4)PEF%: Acupoint application therapy VS basic therapy: [WMD=12.48,95%CI(7.07,17.89)],very low;(5)ACT score: Acupoint application therapy VS western medicine / placebo therapy: [SMD=1.26,95%CI(1.04,1.47)],very low;(6)EOS: Acupoint application + normal therapy VS normal therapy:[SMD=-0.86,95% CI(-1.17,-0.54)],very low;(7)AQLQ score AQLQ score(daily activity score): Acupoint Application therapy VS placebo therapy: [WMD=4.03,95%CI(2.30,5.75)],very low;AQLQ score(environmental factor score): Acupoint Application therapy VS placebo therapy: [WMD=1.71,95%CI(0.84,2.57)],very low;(8)TCM syndrome score :Point application + normal therapy VS normal therapy: [WMD=-2.09,95% CI(-2.65,-1.53)],very low;2,Qualitative analysis:(1)Serum EOS: Acupoint Application therapy VS placebo therapy:[WMD=-143.00,95%CI(-143.08,142.92)](2)Fe NO(exhaled nitric oxide): acupoint application + normal therapy VS normal therapy,[WMD=-11.17,95%CI(-13.30,-9.04)](3)Serum Ig E: acupoint application + normal therapy VS normal therapy:[WMD=-39.89,95%CI(-44.48,-35.30)]Conclusion: According to the current clinical evidence,acupoint application has significant effect in alleviating the overall symptoms of the patients who are suffering from bronchial asthma,which are better than the control group(Western medicine,Traditional Chinese medicine,Acupuncture,placebo therapy).But because of the methodology in these researches are in low quality,and there is a risk of bias,the conclusion should be treated cautiously.
