Combined Pulmonary Fibrosis And Emphysema Syndrome(CPFE)is a new disease entity. As medical imaging develops rapidly, more and more medical workers have seen the coexistence of pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema.Patients with CPFE are characterized most by imageological examination, which shows the coexistence of emphysema mainly in the upper lobe and pulmonary fibrosis mainly in the lower lobe.Patients are usually elderly men with a long history of smoking.Patients have dyspnea in various degrees, and dyspnea after exercising is the major manifestation. If examining these patients, some signs can be found, for example,Velcro rale in the bottom of the lungs, acropachy and die Blausucht.Pulmonary function often shows relatively normal lung volume and remarkably decreased DLco.Relative to pure emphysema or pure pulmonary fibrosis, patients with CPFE have a worse prognosis and a higher possibility of death.Current research on the pathogenesis of CPFE is not thorough enough, largely focusing on such aspects as the exposure of tobacco and gene mutation. The diagnosis of CPFE is mostly based on chest imaging examination combined with its symptoms, signs and pulmonary function chest.Giving up smoking is beneficial for patients, and oxygen uptake can improve patients' state.Although no efficient medicines can reverse patients' condition, research suggests that pirfenidone and Nintedanib can delay the development of the disease and prolong the progression free survival of patients.Lung transplantation can be operated on the patient whose disease has reached an advanced stage and have the ability to tolerate surgery. As a new disease,CPFE remains much to be further explored. After analyzing relative research on CPFE in recent years, this paper makes a summary about various contents of it,aiming to help medical workers better understand CPFE and provide some guidance for clinic work.
