| Objective: Postoperative gastroparesis syndrome after abdominal surgery is one of the refractory complications after abdominal surgery in the Department of general surgery. In this paper,we explore the clinical efficacy of the treatment of gastroparesis syndrome after abdominal surgery with weitan decoction combined with acupuncture, and provide clinical reference for the treatment of gastroparesis syndrome after abdominal surgery.Method: A retrospective analysis from Jan,2010 to Dec,2016 was done at our institution and a total of 32 patients with gastroparesis syndrome after abdominal surgery were included. The included patients were divided into 3 groups on the basis of their treatment options.Group A had 12 patients who were treated with western medicine only,Group B had 11 patients who were treated with a combination of acupuncture and western medicine and Group C had 9 patients who were treated with weitan decoction combined with western medicine and acupuncture.Acupuncture treatment was given once a day by mainly selecting the acupuncture points of the Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin and the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming.Weitan decoction(a chinese medicine based on Houpo Banxiz Shengjiang Gancao Renshen decoction in Han Dynasty, combined with Chaihu Baishao Baizhu and so on)with the funtion of invigorating spleen transportation and transformation were given twice a day along with the retention enema. These 3 groups were compared in terms of clinical symptoms, gastrointestinal decompression time, bowel sounds recovery time and serum albumin level prior to the treatment and after 1 and 2 weeks of treatment, efficacy rate, cure rate and recovery time.Result: 1.Comparing the clinical symptoms: Group C provided better resolution of the symptoms than Group Aand B after 1 and 2 weeks of the treatment, with a significant statistical difference(P<0.05).However,there was no statistical difference between Group A and B.2.Comparing the serum albumin levels: The elevation in serum albumin level, after 1week of treatment, was higher in Group C than the other 2 groups. There was a significant statistical difference(P<0.05)when Group C was compared with Group A,however, the comparison between Group C and Group B showed no statistical difference. The serum albumin level, after 2 weeks of treatment, was higher in Group C and had a significant statistical difference(P<0.05)when compared with the other 2groups.3.Comparing bowel sounds recovery time and gastrointestinal decompression time:Group C was proven better than the other 2 groups.Comparison of Group C with Group A showed a significant statistical difference. However,no significant difference was noted in comparison of Group C with Group B.4.Comparing the efficacy and cure rate: The efficacy rates in Group A(75%),Group B(81.8%)and Group C(100%)had no statistical difference. The cure rates in Group A(25%),Group B(63.6%)and Group C(73.8%)showed a statistical difference(P<0.05).Group C compared with Group A had a significant statistical difference, whereas the comparison between Group C and Group B had no statistical difference.5.Comparing the gastroparesis syndrome recovery time: The recovery time in Group A,B and C were 27.7,23.4 and 19.0 days, respectively.Compared with the other two groups, the C group was significantly better than the other two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The Group C which was treated with weitan decoction combined with western medicine and acupuncture was proven better than the other 2 groups in terms of the clinical symptoms、the serum albumin level after 2 weeks of treatment、the gastroparesis syndrome recovery time and so on.2.The treatment in Group C with the funtion of invigorating spleen transportation and transformation was based on the principle of syndrome differentiation treatment variaion and is worthy of clinical promotion. |
