Clinical Observation Of Acupuncture Combined With Auricular Plaster Treatment Of Primary Restless Leg Syndrome

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with auricular plaster therapy in patients with primary restless legs syndrome,and to explore the mechanism of this therapy,providing an economic,safe,and effective treatment for primary restless legs syndrome.METHODS:In this clinical control study,60 patients met inclusion criteria were randomly divided into three groups:the treatment group（acupuncture + auricular-plaster group）,acupuncture group and western medicine group,20 cases in each group.By completing International RLS Study Group Rating Scale（IRLS）,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index（PSQI）,Self Rating Anxiety Scale（SAS）and Self Rating Depression Scale（SDS）in patients,the clinical efficacy of this therapy are observed and evaluated.Data analysis was performed using SPSS 19.0 software.RESULTS:1.IRLS scores:There was no significant difference（P<0.05）in comparison of IRLS scores of the three groups before treatment.After treatment,the IRLS score of all three groups decreased significantly compared with the score before treatment,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.In the comparison between the treatment group and the acupuncture group,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.And in the comparison between the treatment group and western medicine group,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.2.PSQI scores:There was no significant difference（P<0.05）in comparison of PSQI scores of the three groups before treatment.After treatment,the PSQI score of all three groups decreased significantly compared with the score before treatment,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.Difference was statistically significant between acupuncture group and treatment group in quality of sleep,sleep efficiency,sleep disorders,sleep medication,daytime function and PSQI scores（P<0.05）.Difference was statistically significant between western medicine group and treatment group in sleep latency,sleep duration,sleep efficiency,sleep disorders,sleep medication,daytime function and PSQI scores（P<0.05）.3.SAS,SDS scores:There was no significant difference（P<0.05）in comparison of SAS,SDS scores of the three groups before treatment.After treatment,the SAS,SDS score of treatment and acupuncture group decreased significantly compared with the score before treatment,statistical significance existed（P<0₀5）.In the comparison between treatment and acupuncture group,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.And in the comparison between the treatment and western medicine group,statistical significance existed（P<0.05）.4.Total curative effect:There were statistically significant differences the three groups before and after treatment（P<0.05）.The total effective rate of treatment group was 85.00%.While the acupuncture group 65.00%,control group 60.00%.It also showed significant differences（P<0.05）while comparing treatment group and the two other groups separately.Conclusion:1.The curative effect of acupuncture combined with auricular plaster therapy is significant and better than that of acupuncture and western medicine group in treatment of primary RLS.2.Acupuncture combined with auricular plaster therapy can better improve the sleep,depression and anxiety state of RLS patients compared with simple acupuncture and western medicine treatment.3.In treatment of RLS patients,acupuncture combined with auricular plaster therapy has short treatment cycle,stable curative efficacy and is free of toxic side effects,can effectively improve the life quality of patients.
