A series of documents including the National Strategic Planning Outline for the Development of traditional Chinese Medicine and the Belt and Road initiative have made higher demands in making Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)actively integrated into the national strategy and overall deployment,which requires that TCM should implement the"going out policy" and join the diplomacy of Traditional Chinese medicine.As is located in China’s southwest frontier,Yunnan has favorable geographical location advantages with the other Greater Mekong sub-region countries.China can fully use the radiation function of Yunnan,which has become the forefront of China developing towards South Asia and Southeast Asia countries from the original frontier province under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative,to promote the fast development of TCM in the region to carry out all-round cooperation with the countries in the region,especially in promoting the deeper cooperation in traditional medicine.In this paper,with the long-termed experience accumulation in the international promotion of traditional Chinese medicine and the theory of public management,the author carried out multi-channel analysis and research through documents collation and field visiting survey on the developing situations of Traditional Chinese medicine in the greater Mekong sub-regional countries,and eventually found out the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and threats on the development and popularization of TCM in the other five countries in GMS.Based upon the relevant factors,the author finally put forward a set of complete practical developing strategies and proposals for how to have he better development of TCM in the region through the analysis of SWOT.The strategies and proposals can offer strong information support and decision references for the implementation of the future national strategy in TCM,international trade service,talents cultivation and scientific research in TCM in the five other countries in GMS for such institutions as universities of TCM in China,the national strategic decision institutions,international organizations,enterprises for international trade in services related with traditional Chinese medicine and research institutes related etc.
