The Review Of Mandibular Condyle Fractures

Condyle,an important part of temporomandibular joint,plays an essential role of eating,speaking,facial expression and other physical functions,and is easily made fractured.The fractured rate is high and about 25-35% of mandibular fractures.According to the relationship between fracture block and temporomandibular joint capsule,the fracture of condyle can be divided into intrcapsular fracture and extracapsular fracture.According to the fractured site,the condyle fracture can be divided into fracture of condyle head,fracture of condyle neck and subcondylar fracture.According to whether there is displacement of fracture block or not,the fracture of condyle can be divided into undisplaced fracture,deviated fracture,augulation fracture and override fracture.The treatment of condyle fracture includes surgical treatment and nonsurgical treatment.The complications of condylar fracture mainly include facial nerve injury,ankylosis,absorption of condyle and facial deformity et al.There is not a same conclusion about the treatment and classifications of condyle fracture due to different types of fracture and different situations of patients.This review includes the classifications of condylar fracture,the diagnosis of condylar fracture,the treatments of condylar fracture and the complications of condylar fracture.
