Objective: Through clinical randomized controlled trials, observing and comparing the effect of Ashi point Sihua needling method and routine needling therapy on third lumbar transverse process syndrome patients,in order to explore better schedule for clinical treatment third lumbar transverse process syndrome. Methods:Keeping the spirit of random and contrast rules, the 60 patients that satisfy inclusion criteria of third lumbar transverse process syndrome are divided into two groups, treatment group and control group, each 30 cases. The control group utilizes routine needling therapy, while the treatment group use Ashi point Sihua needling method. The whole treatment is 2 weeks. The VAS and JOA measuring scale are used to evaluate the curative effect.Results:1.Baseline Compared : The two groups of patients in age, gender, disease duration,JOA score and VAS score were no statistical differences(P>0.05).2.VAS scale evaluation: Comparison within groups, using Mann-Whitney U test, the results show that the VAS scores before and after the treatment with significant difference(P<0.001).It shows that the two methods of treatment can effectively decrease the patients’ pain.Comparison between groups: using Mann-Whitney U test, the results show before and after treatment, the VAS scores have significant difference between groups(P<0.05),and found that the treatment group is better than ordinary acupuncture group.3.JOA scale evaluation:(1)total points of JOA :Comparison within groups, using Mann-Whitney U test, the results show that the JOA scores before and after the treatment with significant difference(P<0.01).It Show that the two methods of treatment can effectively increase the patients JOA scores.Comparison between groups: using Mann-Whitney U test, the results showed after treatment, the JOA scores have significant difference between groups(P<0.05),and treatment group increase degree higher than ordinary acupuncture group.(2)subjective symptom, clinical sign and ADL: Comparison within groups, using Mann-Whitney U test, the results show that the clinical sign, subjective symptom and ADL scores after the treatment have significant difference(P<0.01).It show that the two methods of treatment can effectively improve whole situation.Comparison between groups: using Mann-Whitney U test, the results show after treatment, clinical sign scores have significant difference between groups(P<0.05),however,subjective symptom scores and ADL scores have no significant(P>0.05).4.Improvement rate : Rate of improvement are 66.9±24.4(treatment group),51.6±26.0(control group),through Mann-Whitney test(z=-2.486,P=0.013),which means that there is significant difference(P<0.05).According to the data,we found that improvement rate of treatment group is higher than control group,so we draw a conclusion, treatment group is better than control group.5.Evaluation of therapeutic effects: After the treatment,The total effective rate of Ashi point Sihua needling method group and routine needling therapy group were 93.33% and 80%.Through Wilcoxon rank sum test(z=-2.486,P=0.013),which means that there is statistical significance, showed that treatment group is better than control group.6.Safety evaluation: During the treatment, two groups have no obvious adverse reaction occurred, and is same in security..Conclusion:1.Both of routine needling therapy and Ashi point Sihua needling method can obviously alleviate the symptoms of third lumbar transverse process syndrome, such as lumbar pain, clinical sign, activities of daily living and total points of JOA.2.Compared with routine needling therapy,Ashi point Sihua needling method has obvious advantage in alleviating lumbar pain and increasing JOA score, which has curative effect and provide a new idea for clinical treatment. It is worth to promotion.
