This thesis composed of three chapters. The studies on chemical constituents of Rhizoma Nelumbinis and Rhizomatis Nodus From Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.are discussed in the first chapter and the second chapter. The chemical constituents were isolated by MCI,Sephadex LH-20,silica gel and Rp-C18 column chromatographic methods.Their chemical structures were elucidated by physical and chemical propeties, chromatergraph and spectral data.Twenty-nine compounds were isolated from the above plants, and 20 compounds were identified. The structural types of the compounds involved in triterpenoids, flavonoids, and fatty acid. The third chapter summarized the advance of the plant from four aspects:plant origin and morphology, chemical constituents, pharmacological activities and clinical application. There are only two species of plant lotus in this genus, and there is only one species distributed in China. This plant were self-generated or cultivated in ponds or paddy fields,Although it is used as a multi-site plant,it seems that the research on lotus is concentrated in the aboveground part of the lotus, while the research on the Rhizoma Nelumbinis and Nodus in the underground part is relatively rare.In the study of chemical composition, and there are only three documents to list the research so far. This led to the unclear of the chemical composition of the underground part of the lotus, and lack of theoretical basis for the development and utilization of the underground part of the lotus. In order to further deepen the understanding of the material basis of each part of the lotus, and provide scientific foundation for its rational development and utilization in the future, this subject conducts chemical composition research on the Rhizoma Nelumbinis and Nodus.15 compounds were isolated and identified from lotus root. The structural types involved were triterpenoids, steroids and flavonoids. The compounds w ere elucidated as,Betulinicacid?1?,Lupeol?2?,Maslinicacid?3?,?-Sitosterol?4?,S itosterolpalmitate?5?,?+?-Epicatechin?6?,Apigenin?7?,Gastrodin?8?,Benzoicacid?9?,5-Oxymaltol?10?,Camptosoricacid?11?,Methy-11,12,15-trihydroxy-13?14?-oct adecanoate?12?,Linoleicacid?13?,Cerotin?14?,1-Monopalmitoylglycerol?15?,Am ong them, compounds 2,3,10,11,12 and 13 were isolated from the genus for the first time.9 compounds were isolated from Ethyl acetate extract of Rhizoma Nodus. The types of structures involved triterpenoids, steroids, coumarins and alipha-tics.Separately,Betulinicacid?1?,Stigmastane-3,6-dione?2?,Maslinicacid?3?,?-Si-tosterol?4?,Daucosterol?5?,5-Hydroxymethylfurfural?6?,Scopoletin?7?,Ethyllino-leate?8?,Palmitic acid?9?.Among them, componds 2,6,7and 8 were isolated from the genus for the first time.
