Objective: To investigate the Expression and clincopathological significance of HER-2 in Kazakh esophageal cancer. Methods: The expression of HER-2 in 70 esophageal cancer tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situhybridization(FISH),respectively. The correlation of the expression of HER2 to the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer was analyzed. Results: The positive expression of HER-2 in patients esophageal cancer was60%(42/70).The positive expression of HER2 was associated with differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P <0.05).There was no significant correlation between the expression of HER-2 protein in esophageal cancer and the clinicopathological parameters such as sex, age, tumor size, depth of invasion, clinical stage and vascular invasion status(P > 0.05).At the same time, there was no significant correlation between the expression of HER-2 protein and the Survival of esophageal carcinoma patients, indicating that the over-expression of HER-2 protein may not be an effective indicator to determine the shortened survival time of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients. Conclusions: In esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, the positive expression of HER-2 protein is correlated with the higher lymph node metastasis rate, and with the decrease of differentiation degree, the expression rate of HER-2 increased,so the positive expression of HER-2 may be one of the factors reflecting the poor prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. However, exerts its biological effect by influencing the differentiation degree of tumor cells and lymph node infiltration and metastasis.
