Study On Motivation And Influencing Factors Of Blood Donation By Regular Non-remunerated Voluntary Blood Donors In Jinan City

Background As a clinical treatment,blood transfusion always plays an irreplaceable role.Safe blood can cure diseases and save lives,while potentially dangerous blood may cause diseases and threaten lives.The risk of blood transfusion can be reduced by selecting blood donors from low-risk population and establishing a fixed team of voluntary unpaid blood donors.It is a major task for blood collection and supply institutions to investigate and analyze the motivation and influencing factors of blood donation of regular blood donors,so as to formulate a scientific and reasonable recruitment strategy for blood donation without compensation.Objective By using the self-designed questionnaire for blood donation,to understand the characteristics of unpaid blood donors and the proportion of regular non-remunerated voluntary blood donor in Jinan,the motivation and influencing factors of regular non-remunerated voluntary blood donor were analyzed.It is of great practical and theoretical significance to formulate recruitment strategies for voluntary blood donation,to increase the proportion of fixed donors,to further promote the healthy and sustainable development of voluntary blood donation,and to provide reliable data support and theoretical basis for health administrative departments to formulate relevant policies for voluntary blood donation.Methods Between February to July,2018,an on-site questionnaire survey was conducted in street blood donation houses and mobile blood donation vehicles in jinan city.A total of 600 questionnaires were distributed,and 584 questionnaires were collected,among which 578 were valid.The data was entered into EpiData 3.1 software to establish a database,and the data were analyzed by SPSS21.0 software.Descriptive statistical analysis on the general demographic characteristics,health status,blood donation motivation and influencing factors of the respondents was carried out by using frequency,rate,composition ratio,mean and other indicators;chi-square test was used to analyze the counting data and explore the differences between regular non-remunerated voluntary blood donor and irregular voluntary blood donor in various related factors,P<0.05 was used as the test level with statistical significance,and bilateral test was used.Multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the factors affecting the fixed blood donors.Results Among the 578 respondents of this survey,285 were regular blood donors,accounting for 49.31%.Among the regular blood donors,70.53%were males,37.19%were 20-29 years old,62.11%were married,54.74%were only child,65.26%were urban residents,67.37%were resident population,29.12%were bachelor's degree or above,and 22.81%were staff.Blood type distribution of blood donors was B>A>O>AB.Among the regular blood donors,61.76%never suffered from insomnia,91.23%the average sleep time was 7-10 hours,41.05%BMI was normal,felt stressed but the self-relieving rate was 50.53%,the self-evaluation"healthy"rate was 57.89%,the occasional participation in physical exercise accounted for 51.58%,the blood transfusion experience was 23.51%,and the blood disease experience was 9.82%.From high to low,the motives of blood donation are as follows:saving lives and devoting love(X2=12.42,P<0.01),improving physical condition,free physical examination(X2=0.00,P=0.95),enjoying preferential policies for blood use(X2=0.91,P=0.34)),donating blood on special anniversary(x2=3.31,P=0.07),getting a beautiful souvenir(X2=0.03,P=0.86),feeling of social honor and national award(x2=0.76,P=0.38).Among the influencing factors of becoming regular blood donors,the order from high to low is:inconvenient setting of blood donation sites(x2}=8.37,P<0.01),no time(X2=9.97,P<0.01),negative publicity of friends and media(X2=0,13,P=0.72),worrying about influencing health and infectious diseases(x2=21.32,P<0.01),staffs service attitude and puncture level(x2=2.70,P=0.10).The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age,motivation of"saving lives and devoting love",and"worrying about influencing health and infectious diseases"were the main influencing factors for regular blood donors(P<0.05).Conclusions and Suggestions This study draws the following conclusions:The proportion of regular blood donors was 49.31%in donors of whole blood on the streets of Jinan city.Regular blood donors are mainly male,20-29 years old,only child,married,local urban population,staff,bachelor degree or above.The effect of blood donation motivation of"saving lives and devoting love"on regular blood donors was statistically significant(P<0.01).The effects of"no time","inconvenient setting of blood donation sites"and"worrying about influencing health and infectious diseases"on regular blood donors were statistically significant(P<0.01).The main influencing factors of becoming a regular blood donor include age,motivation of"saving lives and devoting love",and unfavorable factors of"worrying about influencing health and infectious diseases".With the increase of age,the proportion of regular blood donors is on the rise,the difference is statistically significant.Based on the results of this study,the following suggestions are put forward:first,to innovate the propaganda model and strengthen the construction of fixed blood donors;second,to put people first and establish"window consciousness"to provide high-quality services for blood donors;third,to strengthen government functions and establish a long-term mechanism to promote the sustainable development of unpaid blood donation.
