Comparative Analysis Of Highly Cited Articles Of Five Chinese Medical University Journals In Domestic And Foreign Databases

ObjectiveTo analyze the citation of highly cited articles from 5 Chinese medical university journals in domestic and foreign databases,and compare the foreign citation of the highly cited articles in domestic database and the domestic citation of the highly cited articles in foreign database,so as to explore the correlation between them.To understand the similarities and differences of citation by domestic researchers and foreign researchers through analyzing the discipline and keywords of the domestic and foreign highly cited articles of 5 medical university journals,so that to help to contribute editorial department of medical university journals.MethodsThis study used bibliometric method,and it based on Chinese S&T journal citation reports(natural science,2017 core version),top 5 journals with the highest comprehensive evaluation score in the category of medical university journals were included,and 512 articles with the highest citation frequency in CNKI database and 486 articles in Web of Science database(WoS)were selected,and chose different index according to different objectives to analyze the citation and the content of the highly cited articles.SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the statistical data with test level taken as a=0.05 and Bicomb 2.0 was used to deal with the keywords of the highly cited articles.Results1.There existed a small citation frequency gap among those highly cited articles for these 5 journals in CNKI database and the CNKI citation of the highly cited articles in WoS database,while that was more obvious in WoS database,both the citation frequency of highly cited articles in WOS database and the WOS citation of the highly cited articles in CNKI database.2.From the point of view of citing articles of the highly cited articles in WOS database,more than 80%of the citation came from western developed countries such as the United States,Britain and Greece,including many world-renowned journals,while most of the citation came from Chinese authors,followed by American authors.Authors from other countries cited less.3.The citation frequency in CNKI database was much higher than the citation frequency WOS database as a whole.4.There existed no significant correlation(P>0.05)or low correlation(r=0.242,P<0.05)between the citation frequency of highly cited articles from CNKI/WoS database,and that in WoS/CNKI database.It means that the more citation frequency of highly cited articles in CNKI database is higher,the citation frequency is not necessarily get highly cited in WoS database,vice versa.5.Both the highly cited articles in domestic and foreign database were largely focused on internal medicine,surgery and oncology,while there existed few or no article in some disciplines.6.There also existed discrepancy in the disciplines and keywords of highly cited articles in domestic and foreign database:The highly cited articles in CNKI database had the most internal medicine articles,while WoS database had the most oncology articles;The highly cited articles in CNKI database emphasized on clinical research,some special groups and mental illnesses,yet the highly cited articles in WoS database involved more kinds of oncology,the whole keyword frequency of oncology is higher than those in CNKI database,and it emphasized on basic medicle science.7.About 83.69%and 87.23%of the keywords from the highly cited articles in CNKI database and WoS database appeared only once,meanwhile,the frequency of the highest frequency keyword was also low.This means that the discipline and keywords of the highly cited articles in domestic and foreign database from 5 Chinese medical university journals distributed dispersedly.8.In some disciplines,some medical university journals had more highly cited articles than other journals,it also showed obvious discipline feature.This can be thought of the superior discipline or key attention of the editorial department.Conclusions1.Through analyzing the highly cited articles,we can know that the domestic influence among 5 Chinese medical university journals were all relatively high,but the discrepancy of international influence among them was obvious.2.So far,Chinese medical university journals were cited by Chinese authors mostly,while international authors paid less attention to the articles in Chinese journals.Scientific jounals in Chinese show lower international influence by now.3.There was an obvious discrepancy in the distribution of the disciplines and keywords,showing distinct feature of them,it means the citation from domestic and foreign researchers were different.4.The medical university journals which have obvious discipline feature should enhance the quality of articles,highlight the characteristic of the journal,and make full use of the advantages.
