Objective:To investigate the correlation between the expression of EMP1 and clinical pathological parameters in serous ovarian cancer, and to explore the possible mechanism of EMP1 to regulate tumor development. Methods: Using online from the Analysis tool,Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis,to analyze the differences in expression levels of EMP1 in serous ovarian cancer tissues and normal ovarian tissues. The clinical data and the original expression data of mRNA in tumor tissues of patients with serous ovarian cancer were obtained from the TCGA database.Relationship between the expression of EMP1 and clinicopathological parameters were analyzed by Chi-Square Test.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to analyze the correlation between variables and prognosis and to make survival curves.Multivariate survival analysis using Cox proportional risk model. Results: Compared with normal ovarian tissue, the expression of EMP1 in ovarian tissue was significantly increased. The expression of EMP1 was significantly correlated with tumor status(P = 0.025),tumor residual disease(P = 0.036).There was no significant correlation with age at diagnosis, tumor site,FIGO stage, histologic grade, lymphatic invasion and venous invasion.Kaplan-meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival time and progression-free survival time of patients in the highexpression group were significantly reduced compared with those in the EMP1 lowexpression group(P < 0.05).Univariate COX regression analysis showed that the age of diagnosis and tumor residual disease were correlated with the OS(P < 0.05).,FIGO stage and residual tumor disease were associated with PFS(P < 0.05).Multivariate COX regression analysis showed that the age of diagnosis, tumor residual disease and high expression of EMP1 were independent risk factors for OS in patients with serous ovarian cancer(P < 0.05),tumor residual disease and high expression of EMP1 were independent risk factors for PFS in patients with serous ovarian cancer(P < 0.05).Conclusion: EMP1 was up-regulated in serous ovarian cancer tissue. The expression level of EMP1 mRNA was positively related to FIGO stage, tumor residual disease and tumor status.EMP1 mRNA expression can be an independent risk factor for prognosis of serous ovarian caner and can be used as a potential prognostic marker.
