| Objective: To explore the relationship between laryngopharyngeal reflux and unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps through a retrospective case-control study.Methods: From September 1,2016 to September 1,2018,303 patients with vocal cord polyps underwent polypectomy in the Department of Otolaryngology,Head and Neck Surgery,First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University.The patients were divided into unilateral vocal cord polyps and bilateral vocal cord polyps according to the pathology after operation.The laryngopharyngeal reflux was initially diagnosed by RSI > 13 and RFS > 7 scales,and the factors(smoking,drinking,overuse of voice,age and hoarseness)that may affect the unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps were included in the statistics.Chi-square test and independent sample t-test were used to analyze these factors,and the possible factors affecting unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps were screened according to P < 0.1.Finally,a logistic regression analysis of multiple factors was carried out by synthesizing the possible related factors screened out,and P < 0.05 showed that there was a significant difference.Results:After univariate analysis,there was no significant difference in the course of smoking,drinking,age and hoarseness(P > 0.1).Laryngeal reflux and vocal cord polyps may be related to unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps(P < 0.1).Logistic regression analysis of laryngeal reflux and overuse of voice showed that the P values of both factors were < 0.05,with significant difference,throat polyps may be related to unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps(P < 0.1).Both reflux and overuse are associated with unilateral and bilateral vocal cord polyps.Conclusion Laryngeal reflux is a related factor of vocal cord polyps.Compared with unilateral vocal cord polyps,laryngeal reflux is more correlated with bilateral vocal cord polyps.It is an independent risk factor for bilateral vocal cord polyps. |
