Objective:Meningiomas of the Sella sellae usually involve the optic nerve and cause visual impairment. The improvement of postoperative visual acuity is controlled by many factors. This paper focuses on the effect of optic nerve decompression on postope-rative visual acuity improvement in patients with nodular meningioma of Sella sellae. Methods:From July 2013 to July 2018,37 patients with tuberculum sellae meningioma who underwent surgical treatment in the neurosurgery department of the second affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were retrospectively analyzed. All the selected patients had different degrees of visual impairment before operation. The resection rate and recurrence rate were determined by preoperative and postoperative craniocerebral mri.All the patients underwent perfect visual examination before and after the operation, and all the patients underwent visual examination before and after the operation, and all the patients were operated by the pterygoid or expanded pterional approach for craniotomy. Then spssl9 software was used to count and analyze the clinical data of all patients before and after operation.Results:37 patients(25 females and 12 males)were 32 years old and 65 years old, with an average age of 46.7 years. The patients were followed up for 6 months to 60 months. There were no operative-related deaths.According to the grade of tumor resection,34(91.8%)cases of simpsoni,ii(3 cases(8.2%)had),simpsoniii,14 cases had improved visual acuity after operation, and 23 cases had no improvement in postoperative visual acuity.During the operation, the optic canal was opened in 11 patients, and the optic canal was not worn out in 26 patients. Conclusion:The improvement of postoperative visual impairment in patients with tuberculu-m sellae meningioma was controlled by many factors:the duration of the disease, the grade of resection of the tumor, and the removal of the epidural optic canal during the operation all had an effect on the improvement of visual acuity. However, through statistical analysis, epidural optic canal grinding is the key factor to improve the visual acuity of the patients, and this procedure is of great significance for the protection of the optic nerve during the operation and for the complete resection of the tumor.
