Objective To investigate the prevalence of dental erosion caused by drinking carbonated drinks among college students from 5 universities in Hohhot.Starting from the impact of carbonated drinks on dental erosion, namely, the frequency of drinking carbonated drinks, the cognition of damaging teeth by carbonated drinks and whether it is known that improper use of carbonated drinks will damage teeth, the prevalence rate of dental erosion and its correlation are discussed,so as to provide epidemiological basis and data for the prevention of dental erosion among college students. Methods A multistage, stratified and random sampling method was used to estimate the population.1,000 college students from 5 universities in 4 districts of Hohhot were randomly selected for oral health examination and questionnaire survey. The data were entered by double entry method.SPSS17 was used for statistical analysis. The prevalence rate was expressed as a percentage.X test was used for prevalence rate and single factoranalysis.Logistic regression analysis was used for multivariate analysis. The results of the survey were all entered into excel tables for data statistics and analysis, and the prevalence rate of counting data was calculated to describe the current prevalence rate of dental erosion among college students in Hohhot. Results 1 Prevalence of dental erosion:(1)Prevalence: The prevalence of dental erosion in 1000 Hohhot college students was 15%,19.2% for males and 9.8%for females. The prevalence of dental erosion was significantly different between different genders(P = 0.00).(2)prevalence of different tooth positions: among all the teeth with dental erosion in 1000 college students, the highest prevalence is maxillary central incisor > mandibular central incisor > maxillary lateral incisor >mandibular lateral incisor > mandibular first molar.2 single factor analysis(1)Factors Analysis of Drinking Frequency and Amount of Carbonated Beverages:The frequency of drinking carbonated beverages and the amount of carbonated beverages are correlated with the prevalence rate of dental erosion among college students, and the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).(2)Analysis of cognitive factors of carbonated drinks damaging teeth: The cognitive level of dental acidosis and whether it is known that improper drinking carbonated beverages will damage teeth are related to the prevalence rate of dental acidosis among college students, and the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).(3)Analysis of behavioral factors for drinking carbonated beverages: The retention of carbonated drinks in the oral cavity, whether drinking carbonated drinks with straw or not,and the cleaning of teeth after drinking carbonated drinks are correlated with the prevalence rate of dental erosion among college students, and the difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion: Analysis of the prevalence of dental erosion: 1,000 college students in Hohhot have a 15% prevalence of dental erosion,of which 19.2% are male and 9.8%are female. The prevalence of dental erosion among college students of different genders is significantly different.2.Univariate analysis: The prevalence of dental erosion among college students in Hohhot is related to the frequency of drinking carbonated beverages, the amount of carbonated beverages consumed, the degree of cognition of dental erosion, whether it is known that improper drinking carbonated beverages will damage teeth, the retention of carbonated beverages in the oral cavity, whether drinking carbonated beverages uses straws, and the cleaning of teeth after drinking carbonated beverages.
