Objectives To obverse the remineralization effect and antiacid ability of Oravie,Duraphat and sodium bicarbonate reminaeralizaiton solution in the early stage of enamel erosion, and to search the medicine with a better effect and provide experimental basis for the prevention and treatment of the enamel erosion in early stage. Methods 60 molars without caries were chosen from the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Bo Chuang Stomatological Hospital of North China University Of Science And Technology. These teeth were prepared into 120 enamel specimen(4mm×4mm) and divided into 8 groups randomly and 15 specmen each group. ① Remineralization experiment: The specimen were treated by Oravive(Group A), Duraphat(Group B),sodium bicarbonate remineralization solution(Group C) and deionized water(Group D)respectively for seven days after demineralization in Coca Cola; ②Antiacid experiment:The specimen were treated by Oravive(Group E), Duraphat(Group F), sodium bicarbonate remineralization solution(Group G) and deionized water(Group H) respectively for seven days before demineralization in Coca Cola. Atomic force microscope(AFM), Scanning Election Microscope(SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray spectrometers and Microhardness Tester were applied to observe the change of the surface morphology, microstructure, inorganic substance content, roughness of the surface and the microhardness. The remineralization effect and antiacid ability of these three kinds of medicine were analyzed.③ The single factor variance analysis was taken by SPSS17.0 to make a comparison between any two groups. Results 1.SEM results: Mineral deposited in the pit of the enamel in Group A, B and C.There was no obvious mineral in Group D after the remineralization experiment. Different degree of destroy of enamel were shown in Group E, F, G and H, and demineralization pits of Group H is obvious. 2. AFM results: Different form of mineral deposits were found among Group A, B and C. The deposit in Group A is more organized, while typical enamel demineralization. was shown in Group D. The depth of the pit in Group A is significantly smaller than that of Group B, C and D(P<0.05). The roughness of Group A and B is significantly smaller than that of Group C and D, but shows no differentiation between Group A and Group B(P>0.05). Different extent of demineralization pits were found in Group E, F, G, and H. The deposit was shown in every group except Group D, but pits in Group E were obviously lower than the other groups. The roughness in Group E and F is smaller than Group G and H(P>0.05), but shows no differentiation between Group E and Group F(P>0.05). 3.EDS results: The value of Ca2+and P3+of Group A is higher than that of other groups(P<0.05),but the value of Ca/P is no obvious differentiation between the four groups. The value of Ca2+and P3+ of Group E is higher than that of other groups(P<0.05). The Ca/P value of Group F is lower than Group E(P<0.05). But there was no obvious difference among the three other groups(P>0.05). 4. The changes in microhardness of enamel: microhardness of Oravie(Group A and E) is more obviously than any other groups after the remineralization and antiacid experiment. Conclusions 1 Oravie, Duraphat and sodium bicarbonate reminaeralizaiton solutionare all have the ability of remineralization and antiacid, which can improve the antiacid ability of enamel by depositing mineral on the enamel surface.2 The roughness of enamel surfaces of Oravie is similar with that of Duraphat.3 The remineralization effect of Oravive is better than Duraphat and sodium bicarbonate remineralization solution.
