Objective: To summarize the birth weight ? characteristics ?diagnosis?treatment of annular pancreas.Methods : A retrospective review of 152 patients with annular pancreas who were treated with surgical repair between January 2009 to august 2017 was performed at our pediatric surgical units.birth weight ?characteristics?diagnosis?treatment of annular pancreas were analyzed.Results:(1)152 patients were identified,out of which 82 were males,and 70 were females,two of which were twins;(2)The average birth weight of children with annular pancreas was less than that of healthy newborns,and the birth weight of children with annular pancreas is equal to that of a healthy newborn who was 1-2 weeks younger.The birth weight of17.4%(19/109)full-term infants?69.2%(27/39)premature infants and50%(2/4)of those with prolonged were less than 2500 g,which was much higher than that of healthy newborn.(3)The postive rate of upper gastrointestinal contrasting examination ? abdominal plain film and ultrasonography were 95.2%?98.2%?57.2%.(4)Annular pancreas oftenassociated with congenital heart diseases(77%)? urinary system anomalies(16.4%)?digestive system anomalies?trisomy 21(8%).Conclusion : Children with annular pancreas often has low birth weights,The birth weight of infants with annular pancreas is roughly equal to that of healthy newborns 1-2 weeks younger.Ultrasonography ?abdominal plain film and a barium meal are helpful for diagnosis.
