Objective: To collect literatures on primary hepatocellular carcinoma(PHC),and to sort out its TCM name,etiology and pathogenesis,experimental study and clinical treatment,so as to provide reference value for clinical diagnosis and treatment of PHC..Methods: By consulting the database of HowNet and Wanfang about the theory and clinical research data of primary hepatocellular carcinoma in recent years,this paper summarizes and collates them to provide theoretical basis and clinical experience for clinical workers.Results: According to its typical clinical manifestations,it belongs to the category of "ruffian qi","accumulation" and "bloating" in TCM.Initial stage of hepatocellular carcinoma is mainly liver depression and spleen deficiency,qi stagnation and blood stasis,long accumulation of phlegm and heat,late stage is due to cancer toxicity injury of human body Qi,Qi,blood and body fluid injury,mostly manifested as liver and kidney yin deficiency,wind and blood.Experiments show that traditional Chinese medicine treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma mainly through inhibiting the proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells,inducing apoptosis anddifferentiation of hepatocellular carcinoma cells,inhibiting the activity of Telomerase,regulating signal transduction pathways and so on.Studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine has unique advantages in the treatment of primary liver cancer in the aspects of dialectical treatment,special prescriptions,traditional Chinese medicine preparations,external treatment,and so on.At the same time,in the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy,surgery,,molecular targeted drugs,TACE and so on,it has greatly improved the curative effect,alleviated the patient’s pain and improved the quality of life.Conclusion: The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the treatment of primary hepatocellular carcinoma can not only alleviate the pain of patients,but also have a good therapeutic effect.It is an important treatment for primary hepatocellular carcinoma at present,and it is worthy of clinical application.
