A Case-control Study Of Factors Affecting Neural Tube Defects In Single Center

Objective:The method of single center can be used to explore the factors associated with the occurrence of neural tube defects(NTDs)and their parent,analyze the clinical characteristics of NTDs cases,and summarize their disease type,race and regional distribution,thus providing a theoretical basis for timely prevention and intervention.Methods: This study was a clinical retrospective study,which used matched case control group.A total of 46 puerperas and 128 pregnant women in the second trimester of pregnancy who were diagnosed as NTDs by B ultrasound examination in outpatient were selected as the case group from November 2011 to April 2018 in the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University.A questionnaire was administered to 174 parents of children with NTDs and 174 parents of normal children to summarize the disease type,ethnicity,and regional distribution of NTDs.Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed for the included factors using SPSS 22 software,and multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis was performed for the selected significant factors to analyze the risk factors and protective factors associated with NTDs and parents.Result:The most type of NTDs is low spina bifida,and the high spine bifida is the second.The number of NTDs pregnant mothers is the most in han nationality,the most in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture and the second in Dingxi city.The results of univariate conditional logistic regression showed that occupational risk factors for mothers(OR=2.70),history of previously deficient children(OR=4.99),antibiotics for mothers(OR=2.96),fever(OR=1.94),passive smoking(OR=2.02)Pregnancy vomiting(OR=2.03)and edible germinated potatoes(OR=2.46)are risk factors for NTDs,Edible fruits and vegetables(OR=0.76),meat and egg milk(OR=0.67)and folic acid application(OR=0.59)are protective factors for NTDs.The results of multivariate logistic regression show that occupational risk factors for mothers(OR=2.28),history of previously deficient children(OR=6.95),maternal fever(OR=2.02),passive smoking(OR=2.59),and consumption of germinated potatoes(OR =1.91)is a risk factor for NTDs,and meat egg milk(OR=0.71)and folic acid application(OR=0.60)are protective factors.Conclusion:The most type of NTDs is low spina bifida.Mother occupational risk factors,previous deficient child history,maternal fever,passive smoking,and consumption of germinated potatoes are risk factors for NTDs.Meat and egg milk and folic acid application are protective factors for NTDs.
