Objective: Graves disease is the main type of hyperthyroidism and a common autoimmune thyroid disease.Excessive thyroid hormones can cause multiple system dysfunction.Zinc finger protein A20 is a negative regulator of immune response. However, there are few papers on the meaning of A20 in Graves disease in the world. To investigate the level of A20 in newly diagnosed Graves disease patients. Methods: Serum samples were obtained from 50 newly diagnosed Graves disease patients and 50 health controls.During the test,PCR was used to calculate the relative expression level.SPSS17 was used to data processing and comparison, included chi-squre test,t-test and data correlation. Results: The expression level of zinc finger protein A20 mRNA in PBMC of the newly diagnosed Graves disease group is significantly lower than the healthy group(P < 0.05).Female A20 mRNA expression is higher in both groups(P < 0.05).The level of A20 mRNA in Graves disease group is weak negatively correlated with the level of thyrotropin receptor antibody(P < 0.05).There is no dramatic correlation between the level of A20 and the other thyroid antibodies. Conclusion: The low level of A20 mRNA expression in PBMC of patients with Graves disease may be related to occurrence of newly diagnosed Graves disease.
